CUSTODIAL AND MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL. A. Custodial and maintenance staff shall work on a twelve-month basis and receive paid vacation as follows: Years of Service Vacation Days 0 – 11 months 10 prorated 6 11 7 12 8 13 9 14 10 15 11 16 12 17 15 20 16 and above 21 Pay for vacation periods shall be received as checks become available. The schedule of all vacations will be determined according to a procedure established by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee. An employee shall not be charged with the use of a vacation day if a holiday falls in an employee’s vacation period. Any maintenance or custodial employee shall have the option to receive compensation for up to a maximum of five (5) unused vacation days per contract year. In the event that an employee wishes to exercise this option, he/she shall submit his/her intentions in writing to the Superintendent of Schools by June 1. Compensation shall be calculated at the per diem rate of 1/300th of the employee’s contracted salary. There will be no carry over of days from year to year.
