Custodial/Maintenance. Custodian, Buildings/Grounds Maintenance 20.5 Nutrition Services: Kitchen Manager, Kitchen Assistant Leave may only be taken in 30 minute increments. Except for emergency situations, unit members must complete the absence request form which includes obtaining their administrator’s written approval prior to taking leave. In emergency situations, the unit member is required to contact their administrator as far in advance of their scheduled work as possible.

Custodial/Maintenance. Safety Precautions: Any employee who is required to remove and/or encapsulate asbestos, clean infectious bodily fluids/wastes and or handle hazardous waste or materials, shall be provided with all necessary training, equipment, materials and supplies.
Custodial/Maintenance. 1. Employees will be allowed a one-half (1/2) hour lunch period without pay at or near the midpoint of their scheduled shift as designated by the Employer. A one (1) hour lunch period without pay may be granted to an employee by the supervisor providing this lunch period does not interfere with the working schedule. Such request shall be in writing and remain on file for the duration of this Agreement. If the employee’s status should change during this period, the employee may ask to have such request removed. 2. Employees will be permitted to take a fifteen (15) minute break period during the first one- half (1/2) of their shift and a fifteen (15) minute break period during the last one-half (1/2) of their shift at a time designated by the Employer.
Custodial/Maintenance. Employees shall submit their preferred vacation period to the administration for approval prior to April 1 of each year. Normally custodial staff shall take their vacations during July and August. Requests for custodial staff for vacation other than for the period of July or August, shall be made, in writing, to the Superintendent and/or designate and a decision shall be made through mutual agreement.
Custodial/Maintenance. In the event of a permanent reduction in work hours of a position or elimination of a position, the least senior custodial/maintenance employee shall have their work hours reduced or will be laid off. The District will then determine all of the remaining positions. After that determination, except for currently filled maintenance positions, all employees at a bid meeting will be able to choose a position based upon seniority.
Custodial/Maintenance. A layoff shall be defined as a reduction in the workforce or a reduction in the normal hours of work for an employee whose hours have been unilaterally reduced by the Employer by more than three (3) hours per week. 1) The incumbent employee has the option to : i) Accept the reduction and remain in the position, or ii) To exercise their seniority rights through bumping, or iii) Choose to be laid off. 2) In the event of a reduction in staff, seniority by classification as defined in 7.01 (2) shall apply with regards to layoff.
Custodial/Maintenance. The Board reserves the right to set the hours of work for all custodial/maintenance employees covered by this Agreement. A permanent change in the starting time shall not be made until the Board has given appropriate notice to the Union and the affected custodial/maintenance employees. The Board reserves the right to temporarily change an employee's starting time in case of emergency. The regularly scheduled work week shall consist of forty (40) hours beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday and ending 168 hours thereafter. The normal workday shall be eight (8) hours. If there is a need for overtime custodial work, such work will be performed by part-time substitutes.

Custodial/Maintenance. 1. When schools are closed due to an emergency or when a work shift has been canceled, employees are to be notified not to report for work. In the event that a custodial/maintenance employee is scheduled to work, reports to work, and had not been notified not to report, he/she shall be given work for his/her scheduled number of hours or four (4) hours, whichever is less. 2. When an outside group or organization is authorized to use a school facility for an activity or function which is not school-related, and there is no cost to the district, a custodian will be scheduled to work at the activity or function. 3. When an absence occurs, the Supervisor of Maintenance and Transportation will determine if the absence shall be covered. The determination shall not be arbitrary, capricious, or discriminatory. If the Union feels this section has been violated, the grievance procedure will be initiated at the Superintendent's step. 4. When overtime is authorized by the Supervisor of Maintenance and Transportation, the procedure outlined below will be followed: a. The employee will be paid overtime at the normal rate of pay for overtime. b. If the employee does not desire to work the authorized over time, he/she will notify his/her supervisor at the beginning of his/her shift. 5. The overtime period will not automatically be an extension of the employee's regular eight (8) hour shift, but can be set by his/her supervisor to facilitate the operation of the school program. 6. The minimum number of hours authorized under this provision will be two (2). a. The Administration shall limit the number of days of this overtime to five (5). The job shall then be posted, within the occupational group classification, for one (1) day and two (2) vacancies filled, by seniority from the seniority list. If the position is not filled in this manner, outside substitutes may be called. Employees bidding on a limited-term posting shall retain full seniority rights to bid on any other permanent openings that occur during that period. All employees hired prior to July 1, 1990 shall be covered as outlined in Appendix B. b. In case of an emergency, the number of days of overtime may be extended to a maximum of ten (10) days. 7. This provision will not apply during holidays or summer periods. 8. The overtime rotation will be kept within the affected classification. 9.
