Data Collection Procedure. The researcher obtained an introduction letter from the University of Nairobi (UoN) and a research permit from the National Council of Science and Technology (NCST). The director city education Nairobi County was informed of the study to be carried out in the city education department. The researcher issue questionnaires, to education officers in Nairobi city education department, city hall annex and its devolved units which they filled them and was collected later for the purpose of analysis after the set time limit. The retrospective data and desk reviews was gotten from the resource center of Nairobi city county education department, to enrich the data.

Data Collection Procedure. Data collection was conducted by a team of three undergraduate students and the current author (principle investigator), under the supervision of Xx. Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxxx, a specialist in Family Social Science. Prior to data collection, the researchers were trained in the study methods. They were given an overview and objectives of the study as well as explanations for the study. They received training on the importance of confidentiality, and as part of the training they were given the chance to understand the survey as well as preparation on how to use the snowball sampling method to reach the subjects for the project. The research team collected data from May 2018-September 2018, with in-depth interviews being conducted from June 2018-September 2018. High concentrations of South Asian students were identified through local university community organizations of South Asians, places of worship for South Asians, and the local ethnic community organizations that serve South Asians. Each of these organizations were sent a description of the study (Appendix A) to share with their listservs through email, post on their social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter) and groups, and word of mouth. The description sent to participants included a brief overview of the study including a screening of the eligibility criteria. Participants who met the eligibility criteria were invited to continue in the study by clicking on a link to sign a consent form (Appendix B & C) to participate. After signing a consent form, they were directed to another link for the survey. The survey was administered through Qualtrics, an online survey platform that is approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Recruitment for in-depth interviews was conducted with convenience sampling. On completion of the survey, participants had the option of providing their contact information to participate in a semi-structured in-depth interview to gain further knowledge into their perceptions and issues of mental health (Appendix E). For interviews the principal investigator met with interested participants at a location convenient for them, explained the purpose of the research study, and obtained verbal consent (Appendix F & G) and permission to record the interview on an iPhone application. Data Collection Procedure. The researcher have arranged with participants a mutually comfortable time in order to minimize distractions which may contribute to invalid data. An audiorecording device and the questions paper were the tools used by the researcher. The researcher first interviewed all teacher participants whereas student participants were interviewed thereafter. Data gathering commenced when responses reached its saturation point. After data gathering was the transcription of the recorded interviews. Data Collection Procedure. The researchers selected one textbook used mainly by EFL teachers in Indonesian schools and conducted a deep analysis on its cultural contents based on the theory from Adaskou et al. (1990). The researchers read and listed the contents of the textbook to select which section or chapter has cultural information to be further analyzed. Subjecting to the meaning of culture in Adaskou et al. (1990), the researchers divided and listed the topic of the contents into four, i.e. reading text, pictures, dialogue, and cultural awareness sections that embodied all cultural sorts a language teaching may involve (aesthetic, sociological, semantic, and pragmatic senses). Next, the researchers revealed the authors and year of publication as well as the contents of each chapter to identify and investigate detailed information needed. Finally, the researchers distinguished and detailed each topic based on the title/situations presented in the textbook, chapter/pages, source, and total number of each topic.
