EMERGENCY MEDICAL. TRANSPORTATION
EMERGENCY MEDICAL. Condition — A medical condition, mental or physical, manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) that a prudent layperson, who possesses an average knowledge of health and medicine, could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in placing the health of the individual (or, with respect to a pregnant woman, the health of the woman or her unborn child) in serious jeopardy, serious impairments to bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL a. An emergency is defined as an unforeseen combination of circumstances beyond the control of an employee, or the resulting state that requires the immediate, personal attention and action of that employee.
b. Doctor and dental appointments are included in this section.
c. The employee must give the District as much advance notice as is reasonable under the circumstances. If written advance notice is not possible, a written explanation must be furnished upon return to duty.
d. In case of death or serious illness of a member of the immediate family that requires the personal attendance of the employee, up to five (5) days shall be granted upon request to the Superintendent. Such request shall state generally the circumstances requiring the leave. In case prior request is not possible because of the circumstances, a report will be made to the Superintendent upon return to duty. An additional two (2) days may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent. Such leaves shall be deducted from accumulated sick leave.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL. The insurer agrees to pay for emergency medical, surgical or anaesthetic services when performed and authorized by a physician.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL. Response to scene of a Medical Emergency (primary response)
EMERGENCY MEDICAL. Services shift work employees shall be entitled to the designated paid holidays as defined in Clause 20.01(1) and shall be compensated for designated paid holidays in accordance with Clause 16.08(c) of this Agreement. All other provisions of Article 20 (except Clauses 20.01(1), 20.04, 20.06 and 20.10(1) and (2)) shall not apply to Emergency Medical Services shift work employees.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL. TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
2 1. Emergency Medical Transportation – COUNTY shall only pay for emergency medical 3 ambulance or medical van transportation to and from designated Transitional Housing Substance Use 4 Disorder treatment programs or health facilities through the COUNTY’s Medical Transportation 5 Agreement under the following conditions:
6 a. Ambulance transportation shall be used for services requiring immediate attention for a 7 Participant due to any sudden or serious illness or injury requiring immediate medical attention, where 8 delay in providing such services may aggravate the medical condition or cause the loss of life.
9 b. When any Participant needs non-emergency transportation as identified in 10 Subparagraph 2. below, and CONTRACTOR cannot transport Participant due to unforeseen 11 circumstances including, but not limited to, staffing constraints, CONTRACTOR shall provide vehicle 12 access within a timely manner or appropriate to Participant’s physical condition and/or limitations.
13 c. CONTRACTOR shall utilize the COUNTY’s Ambulance Monthly Rotation Call Log 14 to request transportation services from Ambulance Providers designated for transportation within the 15 city of the CONTRACTOR’s facility for each said month as identified on the log.
16 d. CONTRACTOR shall use its best efforts to contact Ambulance Providers identified on 17 the Monthly Rotation Call Log as those providers who offer van transportation services if and when an 18 emergency situation occurs and an ambulance is not required.
19 e. CONTRACTOR shall be held liable and may be billed by the Ambulance Provider for 20 services requested by CONTRACTOR that are deemed inappropriate for use and not a covered service 21 in Subparagraph VI of this Exhibit A to the Agreement by the COUNTY.

The immediate family is defined as being spouse, children, parents, sister, brother, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, or those of the employee’s spouse, or others living in the same household as the employee.
