FUNCTION OF A LEAD HAND. Lead Hands are Work Group 1 employees designated by the Company and whose primary function is to lead the work of the group of employees of which they are a member. The Lead Hand’s function is to assist others in the group maintain the scheduled flow of work, as well as to do production work or employee training assigned to the Lead Hand. The Lead Hand does not have disciplinary authority.

ARTICLE SKILLED TRADES Classification Seniority -Work Groups and Classification seniority in the Skilled Trades will be determined by the date of entry into the particular classification or the hire date for a journeyman woman hired directly into skilled trades. An employee hired into a skilled trades job will receive classification seniority upon completion of the probationary period. Apprentices shall commence to accumulate classification seniority upon successful completion of the apprenticeship training program and Canada Inc. Collective becoming qualified as a journeyman woman, whereupon the qualified journeyman I woman will be given seniority credit for their time worked in the apprenticeship training program at the Company. Trades Lay-offand Recall Layoffs shall be handled as follows: Probationary employees in the classification shall be laid off first, except where apprentices and senior employees in the classification do not have the qualifications, skills, and capabilities required to perform the work which needs to be done. Apprentices shall be laid off second. Journeymen I women shall be the next to be laid off in order of classification seniority, provided the employees to be retained in the classification have the qualifications, skills, and capabilities required to perform the work which needs to be done. Skilled Trades employees displaced from their job classifications may use their plant-wide seniority to displace junior employees in lower paid job classifications in accordance with Article Employees to be retained on the basis of seniority must have the ability to do the work within a reasonable period of time, which will be five working days under normal supervision, so long as it does not curtail production standards. In Work Groups and the trial period can be up to ten working days, providing the necessary work is being carried out by the employee.
