Common use of Illness in the Immediate Family Clause in Contracts

Illness in the Immediate Family. Employees with two (2) or more years of service who leave for reasons of illness in the immediate family shall be entitled to return within one (1) year on the basis of seniority and shall regain the seniority and other rights they had before leaving including such accumulated sick leave as was not used prior to the leave of absence. For the purpose of this paragraph the term "immediate family" includes a parent, child, spouse, or parent of a spouse, brother or sister if living in the employee's household. The Board shall make every effort to assign employees returning from an authorized leave of absence to their former job assignment no later than the start of the following school term.
