During the second and subsequent employment years, Part-time employees may utilize earned illness leave credits to a maximum of (75) hours. At the end of the second and subsequent employment years, unused illness leave credits to a maximum of one hundred and fifty (150) hours shall be carried forward to the next employment year. If a Part-time employee becomes ill at work or requires time off for the purpose of attending dental, physiotherapy or medical appointments, he shall not suffer a loss of earnings for the balance of the half shift disrupted. Any remainder of the scheduled shift will be charged against his illness leave entitlement.

  • Illness Leave A. Illness is defined as any pronounced deviation from a normal health state which makes it disadvantageous to the District and/or detrimental to the employee for him/her to be at work. This definition shall include emergency medical, dental, optical, and prosthetic work.

Eligibility for Extended Illness Leave includes completion of employee’s probationary period.

  • Sick Leave Benefit There are two types of sick leave benefits. Annual sick leave is the sick leave days credited each year to each employee in accordance with the provisions of the local collective bargaining agreements. Banked sick leave is previously accumulated unused sick leave to which unused annual sick leave may be added at the end of each anniversary year.

  • Critical Illness Leave (i) An Employee who has completed at least ninety (90) days of employment, and is a family member of a critically ill child or a critically ill qualified adult relative, is entitled to leave of absence without pay or benefits: • for a period of up to thirty-six (36) weeks to care for their critically ill child; or, • for a period of up to sixteen (16) weeks to care for a critically ill qualified adult relative.
