Illness or Bereavement During Vacation. Sick leave or bereavement leave may be substituted for vacation where it can be satisfactorily established by the employee that a confining illness, incapacitating accident or a death occurred while on vacation. A claim based on a confining illness or incapacitating accident must be accompanied by a doctor's certificate and must be for a minimum period of two continuous days. Travel for bereavement would be related to the employee’s location at the time of the death.
Illness or Bereavement During Vacation. Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during their period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.
Illness or Bereavement During Vacation. Sick Leave or Bereavement Leave shall be substituted for vacation where it can be established by the Employee that an illness or accident occurred during his/her vacation, such illness or accident to have been sufficiently serious that it would normally have necessitated the Employee remaining away from work. Bereavement Leave of three (3) days shall be substituted for vacation in accordance with Article 21.03 of this Collective Agreement.
