Increments for Advanced Credit. Increments for advanced credit shall be effective upon successful completion of courses and receipt of approved transcript of courses as follows: on September 1, for those courses completed and transcripts received by August 31st and on February 1st for those courses completed and transcripts received by January 31st.

The BOARD shall have the right to take all steps allowed by law, including recoupment or set-off of previously paid amounts, to recover overpayments made. Credit shall be given only for courses at an accredited college or university which are allied to the teacher's profession or which are required in connection with an advanced degree program allied to the teacher's profession.

Increments for Advanced Credit. 1. Increments for advanced credit shall be effective at the beginning of the school year in September and January for all courses which have been successfully completed in the previous 12 months and which have been approved in advance by the Superintendent. An employee to receive increments for advanced credit must present the Superintendent with evidence of successful completion of said course(s).
2. The Superintendent will review and approve graduate degrees for increments, that is, the Double Masters/CAGS degree and the doctorate degree, granted from those accredited institutions of Higher Education, which are listed by the Federation of Regional Accrediting Commissions of Higher Education, in its directory published annually. A copy of the current directory, Accredited Institutions of Higher Education, will remain on file in the office of the Superintendent. No employee other than employees enrolled in a doctor’s program prior to September 1, 1971, will be eligible for compensation at the Doctorate level unless:
a) The Doctorate degree is in Education; or
b) The Doctorate degree is a Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D.) with a major in the field of specialization in which the employee is working; or
c) The Doctorate or study program has been approved in advance by the Superintendent.
3. Any member of the bargaining unit who in the judgment of the Superintendent has a major article, book, thesis, musical composition or any such creative work published on or after September 1, 1973, in a nationally recognized communication media will receive three (3) credits toward his next educational level.

To the extent possible, the Superintendent of Schools shall be notified by May 1 if a teacher plans to have any change in salary column status during the following school year. Notification by letter or Email to the Superintendent will be deemed acceptable. This agreement shall not prevent individuals who miss the notification date from gaining an earned salary column change once notification is made to the Superintendent. Increments for Advanced Credit. 7.1 Subject to the conditions contained in this Agreement, changes in a professional’s salary through the attainment of credits recognized on the salary schedule shall be made on September 1st and February 1st of each school year. In order to obtain increments, Teachers or Therapists must notify the Executive Director and provide documentation to the Executive Director’s satisfaction that they have obtained appropriate credits in a relevant field from an accredited school or university.
7.2 With respect to advanced credit, graduate level credits are subject to the Executive Director’s approval and must be relevant to the employee’s field. Employees must provide documentation to the Executive Director’s satisfaction that they have obtained a grade of “B” or better in graduate level courses relevant to their field.
7.3 With respect to advanced credit for Masters Plus 15, Masters Plus 30, and Masters Plus 45 graduate level credits are subject to the Executive Director’s approval and must be relevant to their field. These credits must have earned a grade “B” or better.

Section 46.1 Increments for advanced credit shall be effective immediately upon the teacher submitting satisfactory evidence, e.g., transcript or letter from college, of successful completion of course approved in advance by the Superintendent of Schools. The Superintendent of Schools shall be notified by March 1 of the fiscal year preceding the fiscal year in which monies are paid if a teacher plans to have a change in salary column status. A teacher notification of salary column change form shall be provided.
Section 46.2 In order to receive compensation for thirty (30) hours' credit beyond a master's degree, a xxxx of "B" or better must be attained for each hour which must either be in an advanced degree program or in subjects approved by the Superintendent as related to the teacher's field or specialization.
Section 46.3 In order to qualify for consideration for step increments above the third (3rd), sixth (6th), ninth (9th) step levels, evidence of having successfully completed three (3) semester hours of approved study at least every three (3) years in a higher institution of learning accredited by the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges must be submitted by teachers who have not achieved the M+30 column.
