Leave During Vacation. Where, in respect to any period of vacation, an Employee is:
a) granted bereavement leave; or
b) granted sick leave as a result of hospitalization, upon receipt of written verification; or
c) granted sick leave for an illness which would confine the Employee for a duration of more than three (3) scheduled days, as verified by a medical doctor, Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner); or
d) granted sick leave immediately prior to commencing her/his scheduled vacation and such illness continues into the period of scheduled vacation, as verified by a medical doctor, Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner); or
e) granted union leave; the period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation period if requested by the Employee and approved by the Employer, or reinstated for use later.
Leave During Vacation. When an employee is in receipt of Bereavement Leave, or Jury Duty or Sick Leave during his/her vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within three (3) days of returning to work.
Leave During Vacation. When an employee is hospitalized or under a physicians care and is in receipt of the Short-Term Illness and Injury Plan benefits or on leave with pay in accordance with Clauses 15.5 Bereavement Leave, 15.6 Leave for Court Appearances, and 15.7 Educational and Training Leaves, during their vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave pursuant to Clauses 15.5, 15.6 and Appendix C must advise the Commission and provide necessary documentation within seven days of returning to work. The provisions of this article do not apply when an employee is on pre-retirement leave in accordance with Clause 11.10 Retirement Allowance, 14.7 Vacation Leave on Retirement and 15.13 Pre-Retirement Leave.

An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Commission and provide necessary documentation within seven (7) days of returning to work. The provisions of this Article do not apply when an employee is on pre-retirement leave in accordance with Articles 11.10 (Retirement Allowance), 14.07 (Vacation Leave on Retirement and 15.14(a)(1) (Pre- Retirement Leave).

Leave During Vacation. An employee who becomes hospitalized or seriously ill or injured while on vacation may have such period charged to his or her accumulated sick leave instead of to the vacation provided:
a. Immediately upon return to duty, the employee submits to his or her department director a written request for sick leave and a written statement signed by his or her physician stating that the employee had a serious illness or injury and dates of his or her serious illness or injury.
b. The department director recommends and the City ManagerChief Executive Officer approves the granting of such sick leave.
Leave During Vacation. An employee who is eligible for sick leave and who suffers a serious illness or accident while on vacation shall have vacation credits reinstated and shall be placed on sick leave. An employee must advise the Employer of their intention to claim vacation credits within seven (7) days of returning to work.
Leave During Vacation. When an employee suffers a debilitating illness and/or injury of a serious nature while on vacation, which requires inpatient hospitalization or ongoing medical care with the provision of a medical certificate, or bereavement leave, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of absence so displaced shall either be added to the vacation period or reinstated for use at a later date at a mutually agreeable time.
