LEAVES OF ABSENCE FOR UNION ACTIVITIES. Any member of the Union elected to or selected for office or as a delegate for specific Union activities necessitating a leave of ab- sence shall be granted such leave without loss of seniority, subject to qualification.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE FOR UNION ACTIVITIES. In addition to the amounts that the board continues to pay a teacher released under clause 3-6.06*, in accordance with the provisions of this section, the board shall also pay the teacher released on a full-time basis any supplement which the union or QPAT asks it to pay. The union or QPAT, as the case may be, agrees to reimburse the board for all amounts paid to a teacher so released and all amounts paid for or in the name of the teacher, including any supplement and any additional amount of whatever nature (excluding administrative costs), which the payment of the said supplements may cost the board at a time and according to the date and the terms and conditions agreed upon between them. The board shall send an invoice to the union by September 30 of the following school year, otherwise the latter will be released from its obligation to reimburse the board.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE FOR UNION ACTIVITIES. It is noted that leaves granted under clause 3-6.10 are not deducted from the bank of authorized days. 3-7.00 DEDUCTION OF UNION DUES OR THEIR EQUIVALENT 3-7.01 The amount of union dues is set according to the regulations of the union. 3-7.02 Within thirty (30) days of the signature of this agreement, and thereafter once a year before July 10th of each year, the union advises the board of the rate set and of the modalities of collecting the union dues. Failing such notice, the board shall make deductions according to the last notice received. Furthermore, the union advises the board in writing of the rate set and of the modalities of collecting any special union dues forty-five (45) days before they become deductible. 3-7.03 Union dues are deducted from the total salary as defined in clause 1-1.46 of the collective agreement. The total salary does not include any amounts reimbursed by the board to a teacher under article 12-4.00 or Appendix XXVII of the national collective agreement.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE FOR UNION ACTIVITIES. Up to one (1 ) employee per facility shall be allowed to take a leave of absence to attend to specific Union activities. Any such leave of absence shall be granted without loss of seniority. In all such instances, the Employer shall be notified in writing not less than thirty (30 ) days in advance of such absence. Such leaves of absence shall be limited to one (1 ) time per year and each leave of absence shall not exceed two -weeks in duration. Upon written request from the Union, the Employer may, in its d iscretion, agree to grant additional leaves of absence or a leave of absence of a longer duration. The Union shall reimburse Employer for all costs associated with a Union Paid Leave of Absence, including, but not limited to, base pay, Employer retirement contributions, medical premium subsidy, the value of pro -rated leave accruals and Employer-paid benefits received (e.g., Medicare contributions, life insurance premiums, workers' compensation, etc.). Reimbursement to Employer by the Union shall be made no later than thirty (30) calendar days from receipt of Employer's certification of expenses to Teamsters.

  • Leave of Absence for Union Business Negotiation Committee 17.1 The Board acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or select a Negotiating Committee of not more than five (5) employees plus the Union President and will recognize and deal with this Committee with respect to contract negotiations. Where bargaining takes place jointly with all three (3) CUPE bargaining units, it is understood that the Negotiating Committee will consist of three (3) employees from each bargaining unit and the Union President (total of 10). The Union agrees to provide the names of all Committee members to the Board in writing. 17.2 The Union may have the service of a CUPE Staff Representative, counsel or adviser at any meeting with representatives of the Board during negotiations pertaining to renewal or amendment of the Collective Agreement. 17.3 Members of the Union negotiating committee shall be paid at their regular straight time rate of pay for their regularly scheduled work time spent with officials of the Board for purposes of amending or renewing the Agreement up to and including, but not beyond the stage of conciliation, provided, however, that such committee members shall not be compensated for time spent prior to or beyond their regular working hours. 17.4 Upon request, members of the Union's Negotiating Committee shall be permitted leave of absence to prepare for the commencement of formal contract negotiations with the Board. The total number of days of leave under this Article shall not exceed 28 days during the lifetime of the Agreement and no member shall be absent for more than 4 days for this purpose. The Union shall give the Board a minimum of 5 days advance notice of any such request. An employee on such leave shall continue to receive pay and benefits provided in this Agreement. The Union shall reimburse the Board for all pay and benefits for the period of absence. Union Conventions/Conferences, Local Union Business, Labour College 17.5 Leave of absence without loss of pay and without loss of sick leave credits or seniority shall be granted upon request to the Board to employees elected or appointed to represent the Union at recognized Union conventions or conferences. In addition, up to twenty-five (25) days leave of absence per Agreement year shall be granted for local Union business, and such leave shall be without loss of pay and without loss of sick leave credits or seniority. An employee on any of the foregoing leaves shall receive the pay and benefits provided in this Agreement. The Union shall reimburse the Board for all pay and benefits for the period of absence. Leave of Absence for Union Business 17.6 An employee selected for up to and including a full-time position with the local shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority or benefits for a period of up to two years. Such leave shall be renewed each year, on request, during the term of office. An employee on such leave shall receive the pay and benefits provided in this Agreement. The Union shall reimburse the Board for all pay and benefits for the period of absence. Upon completion of the President’s leave, the employee will be returned to his/her position if it still exists, or to a comparable position, if it does not. 17.7 Any employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, upon application will be granted leave of absence without salary, benefits, and loss of seniority, by the Board for a period of up to one year. Such leave shall be extended annually, upon request, up to a maximum of five years.

  • Paid Leaves of Absence Paid leaves of absences granted under this Article shall not exceed the employee's normal work schedule.

  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE applies for both paid and unpaid leaves. For the purposes of an unpaid 11.25 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 14.05 hours. For the purposes of an unpaid 7.5 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 9.375 hours.
