Letters of Reference. Applications for tenure, or promotion to the ranks of Professor or Librarian IV, require letters of reference solicited by the Xxxx under the following conditions. (Librarians, Laboratory Instructors, and Instructors applying for tenure may ask to forego the use of letters of reference. Such requests shall not be denied unreasonably.) The academic staff member shall supply names and contact information for three referees to the Xxxx no later than November 30th. The Xxxx shall request a letter of reference from each of the referees named by the member. The Xxxx may obtain letters of reference from up to three additional referees. When soliciting written references from the referees, the Xxxx shall provide the appropriate Criteria for Performance Review document, and articles 16, 17 and 18 of the Collective Agreement, indicate what career decision is under consideration, and advise the referees that the letters shall be held in confidence in accordance with the procedures outlined below. The Criteria Documents shall specify any additional material to be sent to the referees. Such material shall be provided by November 30th to the Xxxx, who shall in turn convey it to the referees. The Xxxx shall retain the letters of reference in confidence. These letters are intended for the use of the Xxxx, the Review Committee, and in cases of promotion to Professor, the Campus Promotion Committee. The letters are not provided to the initial reviewer or to departmental review committees. Letters shall be retained should they be needed for an appeal or for arbitration. Before the reference letters are submitted to appeal or arbitration committees, a representative from the Faculty Association and a representative from the University shall jointly edit the letters to delete anything that may identify the authors. All letters of reference shall be destroyed after all reviews, appeals, and arbitrations have been completed. Letters of reference received outside the above procedures shall not be considered in the performance review process and shall be destroyed. Academic staff members seeking promotion to ranks other than Professor or Librarian IV may request, or agree to, the use of letters of reference. Members shall not be pressured, nor be penalized for refusing, to agree to the use of letters of reference.
Letters of Reference as identified by the Member or the chair of the CAP Committee, may be obtained to support a Librarian Member’s achievements significant to the application and/or recommendation for Continuing Appointment. Such Letters are not required for an application for Continuing Appointment and, while providing useful information, are similarly not determinative. Letters of Reference shall be in writing, signed by the referee, and indicate clearly the nature of the relationship between the Member and the referee and the achievements or activities commented upon.
Letters of Reference. Adoptive family agrees to supply no less than three references, at least two coming from non-relatives and one from a family member. Adoptive family understands and acknowledges that these letters of reference are confidential and will not be shown at any point to the applicant.
Letters of Reference. 19.5.1 A candidate for permanency or promotion to Professor, or Associate Professor if applicable (as provided for in Article 19.10.6.5), shall supply a list of three referees to the Vice-President (Academic) prior to December 15th. The Vice-President (Academic) shall request a letter of reference from each of them. In addition, the Vice-President (Academic) may obtain letters of reference from up to three additional referees.
19.5.2 Prior to December 15th, the academic staff member shall meet with the Vice-President (Academic) concerning the materials from his or her file that are to be sent to the referees. Following this consultation, the member shall select representative materials from the member’s work to send to the referees. The member may also provide a written statement concerning his or her request for permanency or promotion.
19.5.3 When soliciting written references from the referees, the Vice-President (Academic) shall provide the appropriate criteria document and the materials in Article 19.
5.2 the academic staff member has requested to be sent to the referees; indicate what career decision is under consideration; advise each referee of the review procedure; and advise the referees that the letters may be retained and used again in reference to the same career decision. The letters of reference, when received, shall be attached to the candidate's review form. On each letter there shall be an indication of whether the name was suggested by the candidate or by the Vice-President (Academic).
Letters of Reference. An employee may have an Application and Letters of Reference on file at the District Office for one (1) year to fulfill this requirement.
Letters of Reference. Upon separation from the Agency, an employee may request a letter from Anixter Center describing employment by Anixter Center. In the event Anixter Center receives a request for reference from an employee’s prospective employer, Anixter Center’s response to such request shall be a statement of the separated employee’s dates of service, qualifications and final salary. More complete letters of reference shall be provided by Anixter Center only with the specific authorization in writing received from the separated employee.
