Mandatory Education. The Medical Center shall make reasonable efforts to provide nurses with adequate time within their normal full-time equivalency to accommodate mandatory education. Nurses shall make reasonable efforts to complete mandatory education (such as HealthStream) and the annual nursing evaluation during regularly scheduled shifts. A nurse who is finding it difficult to find adequate uninterrupted time away from patient care duties to complete mandatory education or the nursing evaluation may bring this difficulty to the attention of his or her manager and/or nursing supervisor. The nurse and the manager will then work together to schedule a reasonable amount of paid time away from patient care, consistent with patient care needs, for the nurse to complete the education or evaluation. This may include during periods of low census, with the approval of the nurse’s manager and/or nursing supervisor.
Mandatory Education. (1) Mandatory education is defined as any class or training session required by the Hospital or department.
(2) If the Hospital requires a Nurse attend a class or training sessions, the Hospital will reimburse the Nurse for class attendance at her/his base rate of pay.
(3) Nurses will not be expected to use continuing education leave for mandatory education.
Mandatory Education. (a) Each worksite shall provide in-service education programs focused on the needs of the staff for the improvement of patient care. In those worksites without the services of an in-service educator, the designated Employer representative shall be responsible for the in-service program.
(b) An Employee attending required education and in-service sessions deemed mandatory by the Employer shall be paid at the applicable hourly rate such that if these hours place them in an overtime situation, they shall receive pay or time off at the overtime rate, except when such attendance occurs during the Employee’s scheduled hours of work. The Employer shall attempt to schedule Employees for mandatory education during the Employee’s scheduled hours of work.
(c) The Employer shall identify in advance the scheduled time for mandatory education and in-service sessions. Employees will be compensated for the scheduled time of the education or the actual time it takes to complete the course, whichever is greater.

Mandatory Education. 13 A nurse scheduled for ACLS, PALS or TNCC/TEAM or any other mandatory 14 education that is scheduled to last a minimum of eight (8) hours or more will be 15 compensated for hours equal to the nurse’s regularly scheduled shift length, or 16 the length of the class, whichever is greater.
Mandatory Education. 25 A casual part-time nurse shall be eligible for compensation, expenses and 26 registration fees as required by this Article for all mandatory training required by 27 their licensure or the Medical Center.

If 7 there is difficulty in finding adequate uninterrupted time away from patient care duties to 8 complete mandatory education or the nursing evaluation, the nurse may bring this 9 difficulty to the attention of his or her supervisor or manager. The nurse and the 10 manager will then work together to schedule a reasonable amount of paid time away 11 from patient care, consistent with patient care needs, for the nurse to complete the 12 education or evaluation at the Hospital. This may include during periods of low census, 13 with the approval of the nurse’s manager and/or nursing supervisor.
