Extra Shift Premium. 1. A nurse will be paid a premium of $15.50 per hour for all hours worked in excess of the number of the nurse's regularly scheduled hours for the week, when such excess hours result from the nurse's working hours on an extra shift(s) of at least four (4) hours each in duration, (three and ½ hours if following the completion of the nurse’s regular shift) at the request of the Medical Center. Employees may split a shift as long as the total shift is covered. The following regularly scheduled hours not worked will also be counted for "hours worked" in the week. (a.) Hours because of stay home time whether at the request of the Medical Center or nurse. (b.) Hours placed on call at the request of the Medical Center or nurse due to low census. (c.) Any time taken as paid time off including but not limited to EIB, PTO, jury duty, bereavement, paid educational days, or mandatory inservice meetings. In determining eligibility for this premium, "hours worked" will not include working as a result of trades. 2. Each nurse shall receive a written confirmation when a shift is grantedstatement signed by the nurse director or staffing coordinator indicating what shift/hours will qualify for the extra shift premium. 3. If extra shift hours qualify for overtime, the extra shift hours will be compensated at the applicable overtime rate, according to applicable federal wage and hour laws. 4. A nurse who is placed on standby call while working on a shift that qualifies for the extra shift premium will be paid the applicable call-back rate as well as the extra shift premium for all hours worked on the extra shift as a result of a call-back. 5. This section replaces all other bonus rates for working extra shifts which may have been in existence before this section's effective date.

Extra Shift Premium. When, at the request of the Department, an employee works a shift where he or she is not scheduled to work, and the employee has taken paid leave during the same work period, that employee shall be eligible to be paid at the premium rate of one and one half times the duty hour rate for time worked on the extra shift even if that employee has not worked over 182 hours in the work period.
Extra Shift Premium. Employees who volunteer to work Employer designated shifts shall receive an Extra Shift Premium six dollars and fifty cents ($6.50) per hour added to their base rate of pay for actual hours worked during the designated shift. An extra shift shall be defined as an employer designated shift that includes work time beyond a Bargaining Unit Employee’s regularly scheduled shift. This does not include shift trades between Employees. The employee will need to complete a written extra shift premium form made available by the Employer. Shifts that qualify for the Extra Shift Premium shall be clearly posted and marked as such. Employer may cancel the bonus shift designation within five (5) calendar days of the scheduled shift if the Employer is able to hire or schedule additional staff to work the shift at a rate lower than what would be paid through the application of an extra shift premium. In order to qualify for the extra shift premium the employee must work her/his next scheduled shift, unless the employee is unable to work due to an excused absence as defined by the Attendance and Punctuality Policy (Appendix D) or was called off by the Employer. Any extra shift premium must be offered to Bargaining unit members first prior to being offered to other employees or agency or Prestige pool employees.

This agreement shall cover nurses regularly assigned to twelve (12) hour shifts or 4 ten (10) hour shifts. Where otherwise mutually agreeable to the Hospital and a 2/3 majori- 5 ty of the affected nurses on a nursing unit, a nurse may be scheduled for twelve (12), ten 6 (10), or eight (8) hour shifts, or some combination of such shifts, under the following con- 7 ditions. 9 2. Extra Shift Premium. The Hospital will pay an extra shift premium of $5 per hour to each full-time bargaining unit employee who works an additional shift beyond their regular scheduled shifts in a pay period. For part time and per diem staff such extra shift premium would be paid if the part time or per diem employee had already worked the equivalent of full-time hours in the pay period. a. Employees who are being paid “on call” or “call-back” are not eligible for the extra shift premium when called back during on call status. b. For part time and per diem employees, any unscheduled absence, in the same pay period the extra shift is worked, will disqualify the employee from the incentive premium. If an employee is called off during his/her extra shift, they will receive a pro-rated extra shift premium based upon actual number of hours worked on the shift.

Extra Shift Premium. 26 Nurses who agree to work previously unscheduled hours (those not included 27 when the schedule is regularly posted) shall be paid a premium of fifteen dollars 28 ($15.00) twenty ($20.00) per hour in addition to all other compensation received 29 for all extra hours worked, regardless of the total number of hours worked in the 30 work week or workday. This premium is intended to encourage nurses to work 31 hours/shifts that are hard to fill. This premium will also be paid to nurses who, 32 when asked, agree to work more than one (1) hour beyond their regular shift 33 when needed to complete the work of that shift. The premium begins at the end 34 of the regular shift. This premium will be paid to nurses who, when asked, agree 1 to work all or part of a new shift not previously scheduled. The premium will begin 2 at the beginning of the new shift. Such nurses may elect to limit the departments 3 that they are available to work during such unscheduled hours and may decline 4 to be placed on-call if not needed to actually work. Nurses who agree to pick up 5 an extra on-call shift will be eligible to receive bonus pay of five dollars ($5.00) 6 per hour above the standbyLCSB/on-call rate. However, the Hospital may, if 7 deemed necessary by nursing leadership, call-off a nurse who has signed up for 8 an Extra Shift Premium, due to low census pursuant to Article 12.7 & 12.8.
