Maternitv Leave. For any female administrator, a maternity leave of absence shall be granted upon request. The administrator must present a physician's certificate on or before the fourth month of pregnancy stating the ability and advisability of her continuing to work and that her pregnancy does not create an "industrial risk," and that the administrator is able to fulfill her regular duties. The maternity leave shall expire on June 30th of the school year in which the leave is granted. Upon request, a maternal care leave shall be granted by the Board after the expiration of the maternity leave for a period of one year. A maternal care leave is non- renewable. Maternity-as-a-disability as defined by the provisions of applicable law and the short-term disability provisions of compensable leave in this agreement is available to administrative staff as an option. Those individuals who elect to terminate rather than request a leave of absence for maternity reasons shall comply with the provisions of this section, as defined for those who request a I leave of absence for maternity reasons. The Advisory Committee considers an Employee on maternity or paternity leave if the Employee's absence is due to the Employee's pregnancy, the birth of the Employee's child, the placement with the Employee of an adopted child, or the care of the Employee's child immediately following the child's birth or placement. The Advisory Committee credits Hours of Service under this paragraph on the basis of the number of Hours of Service the Employee would receive if he were paid during the absence period or, if the Advisory Committee cannot determine the number of Hours of Service the Employee would receive, on the basis of 8 hours per day during the absence period. The Advisory Committee will credit only the number (not exceeding 501) of Hours of Service necessary to prevent an Employee's Break in Service. The Advisory Committee credits all Hours of Service described in this paragraph to the computation period in which the absence period begins or, if the Employee does not need these Hours of Service to prevent a Break in Service in the computation period in which his absence period begins, the Advisory Committee credits these Hours of Service to the immediately following computation period.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Union Leave of Absence An employee on an unpaid Union leave of absence shall have her wages, benefits and seniority continued by the Employer, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for the costs of such wages and benefits. Employees requesting leave under this article will provide the Employer with as much advance notice as possible of the dates of the leave. Where there are less than fifteen (15) regular employees at a workstation at the time the leave request is submitted, and subject to operational requirements, unpaid Union leave of absence will be granted to one employee for the purpose of conducting Union business. This would be an additional person on Union leave at worksites where the position of the Union President or Council member has been backfilled for the duration of their term of office. A leave of absence without pay shall be granted to an employee who is a member of the Union and who is:

  • Bereavement Leave of Absence An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay. Immediate family means spouse, (as defined in Section 2(b) of Appendix 2), parents, and child. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as immediate family. An employee who has a bereavement in their family will be granted up to and including three (3) days absence with pay. Family means brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as family. In the event of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grand parents- in-law the employee will be given one (1) days' leave with pay to attend the funeral. An additional day's traveling time, in each direction, will be granted in order for the employee to attend the funeral if such is to be held in excess of 600 kilometers from the employees’ home.
