Night Shift Incumbent Preference. Night shift or afternoon shift personnel who want a day shift job shall register their request with the Custodial Services Manager indicating their interest in permanent and/or temporary day shift jobs. When a permanent day shift job is vacant, the Custodial Services Manager shall poll the list of registrants in order of seniority and give preference to registrants before new hires are made to fill the vacancy. When a temporary job opens for a week or more, and is to be filled, the Custodial Services Manager shall poll the list of registrants in order of seniority in the municipality where the vacancy exists. When an opening is refused, the name of the registrant shall be removed from the list. The employee may re-register after three (3) months. Be it further understood that employees within the particular school, where temporary vacancies occur, will receive preference before any transfers or hirings are considered.

Where vacancies are in excess of days, preferencewill be given to employees on the list Summer Chief Custodial Vacancies When a vacancy arises because the Board decides to fill in for a Chief Custodian for a period exceeding two (2) calendar weeks during the summer months, the Board shall permit an employee in the custodial classification to transfer to fill the vacancy in preference to using a temporary employee as a replacement. Prior to each summer period, employees shall be invited to state their desire to be so considered and the Board will consult with such employees as required when a vacancy occurs. It is understood that employees within the particular school will receive preference before any transfers or hirings are considered.
