One Hour Explanation. The University agrees that up to two (2) Union representatives shall be allowed one (l) hour to meet and discuss the function of the Union with all new employees. Both the Union representative(s) and the employee shall have time off work with pay to attend the meeting. The Department must ensure that a new employee works no longer than two (2) weeks before attending one (1) of these meetings.
One Hour Explanation. The Employer agrees that a member of the Local Union Executive or a Xxxxxxx shall be allowed up to one hour during regular working hours to meet and explain the function of the Union to each new employee during her first month of employment and to sign the employee into the Union.

The Employer agrees that a member of the Union’s local executive or the Shop Xxxxxxx shall be given an opportunity during regular working hours to interview each new employee within the first month of their employment for the purpose of acquainting the employee with the benefits and obligations of Union membership and their responsibilities and obligations to the Employer and the Union. The Staff Liaison Officer shall interview each newly elected member of the Board of Directors within two (2) weeks of the commencement of their term of office for the purpose of acquainting the new members with terms of the Collective Agreement, the rights of employees and appropriate procedures and mechanisms for communication of dissatisfaction with the work of an employee and the resolutions of problems which may arise from time to time.

The Employer agrees that the Bargaining Union Chairperson or designate shall be given an opportunity during regular working hours to orient each new employee within the first month of his/her employment for the purpose of acquainting the employee with the benefits and obligations of Union membership and his/her responsibilities and obligations to the Employer and the Union. A person designated by the Employer shall orient each newly elected member of the Executive within two (2) weeks of the commencement of their term of office for the purpose of acquainting the new members with terms of the Collective Agreement, the rights of employees and appropriate procedures and mechanisms for communication of dissatisfaction with the work of an employee and the resolutions of problems which may arise from time to time. It is agreed that the Employer will notify the Union, in writing, who is designated and any change in designation.
