One Hour Explanation. The University agrees that up to two (2) Union representatives shall be allowed one (l) hour to meet and discuss the function of the Union with all new employees. Both the Union representative(s) and the employee shall have time off work with pay to attend the meeting. The Department must ensure that a new employee works no longer than two (2) weeks before attending one (1) of these meetings.

The Employer agrees that a member of the Local Union Executive or a Xxxxxxx shall be allowed up to one hour during regular working hours to meet and explain the function of the Union to each new employee during her first month of employment and to sign the employee into the Union.

The Staff Liaison Officer shall interview each newly elected member of the Board of Directors within two (2) weeks of the commencement of their term of office for the purpose of acquainting the new members with terms of the Collective Agreement, the rights of employees and appropriate procedures and mechanisms for communication of dissatisfaction with the work of an employee and the resolutions of problems which may arise from time to time.
