Optional Requirements. 7.1 SafePLC and E-stop Concerning safety on production lines, it is in accordance with European law, the individual seller of units to CE approve its own equipment/machine. An external company or buyer will prepare the final CE approval of the entire system. The seller must indicate the number of emergency stop and emergency stop locations. This information is to be used to program the SafePLC which can become a part of the Line Controller. The Line Controller must be able to conduct a controlled shutdown of the line. The Line Controller will monitor all emergency stops on the Units, therefore the requirements for emergency stop circuit needs to be coordinated with the Buyer and the seller of the Line Control. The E-stop circuit’s needs to be 100 % separated from other devices, for example door switches etc. It is not the intention that the whole line is to be stopped, if for instance a safety door on a Unit is opened. The principle of the line E-stop are to ensure that the Unit with an emergency is stopped immediately, and the Units upstream are stopped by the line controller E-stop function. Figure 15: E-stop interface for units on a line with SafePLC. Units with an active E-stop needs to be manually cleared (physically cleared) and restart on the Unit is necessary. The units that are stopped as a consequence of a controlled shutdown from Line controller, must be able to restart after a manually clearing of E-stop. Units must not be able to be reset or started when a E-stop is active. The emergency stop function must be available and operational at all times, regardless of the operating mode. Emergency stop must be a back-up to other safeguarding measures and not a substitute for them. The SafePLC function within the Line Controller needs to obtain the following demands in accordance with Standard EN ISO 13849-1 and the following issues is to be defined • Performance level ? (For example: D) • Architecture category ? (For example: D) • Stop category ? (For example: 0) It must be possible to start the line again after maximum 10 seconds when the unit with emergency stop is reset and ready for production. It is to be examined what are the situation when new and old Units are mixed.
