Period of Leave and Commencement of Leave. (a) Subject to subclauses (3) and (6) hereof, the period of maternity leave shall be for an unbroken period of from 12 to 52 weeks and shall include a period of six weeks' compulsory leave to be taken immediately before the presumed date of confinement and a period of six weeks' compulsory leave to be taken immediately following confinement.

Period of Leave and Commencement of Leave. (1) Subject to 19.4 and 19.6, a female employee who has given notice of her intention to take parental leave, other than for adoption, is to commence the leave six (6) weeks before the estimated date of birth unless a medical practitioner has certified that she is fit to work closer to the date.

  • Commencement of Leave Parental leave must commence no later than the first anniversary date of the birth or adoption of the child or of the date on which the child comes into the actual care and custody of the employee. The employee will decide when his or her parental leave is to commence.

  • Period of Leave (a) The period of leave will be for 12 months, from 1 January to 31 December.

In order to receive this allowance, the employee must provide to the Employer proof that the employee has applied for and is eligible to receive employment insurance benefits pursuant to the Employment Insurance Act. An employee disentitled or disqualified from receiving employment insurance benefits is not eligible for maternity leave allowance.
