President’s Leave of Absence. The president of the union shall, at the request of the union, be granted a leave of absence without pay during their term of office. During their term in office, their place on the salary scale will advance at the rate of an employee on active status. Such leave shall be arranged so that payment of the president’s salary and deductions for retirement and fringe benefits will be made by the office of payroll and reimbursed by the union. The Board agrees to return the president to a position comparable to that held by him/her prior to the leave of absence being granted, providing the president notifies the board of their desire to return to that position at the time the leave is granted. This section applies only if the president returns upon the expiration of the leave of absence and shall be extended in the event they are re-elected.

President’s Leave of Absence. The President of the local shall be granted leave of absence without pay for all time spent conducting Union business. This shall include, but not be limited to, meetings with the Employer, for negotiations and/or grievance processing, investigation of grievances and attendance at CUPE conventions and seminars. In all instances of leave of absence without pay under this article prior approval of the Superintendent/Designate must be obtained. This shall be in addition to the leave granted in Article 19.
President’s Leave of Absence. The Board of Education may grant a leave of absence to the president of the Union during his/her term in office similar to the provisions provided for certificated personnel covered by Section 22723 of the California Education Code. This leave shall not be District-paid; the Union is to pay all salary, retirement and fringe benefits due according to contract and law.

  • General Leave of Absence a) Leave of absence without pay may be granted to employees for valid reasons as set out by Company policy. b) An employee on general leave of absence shall not accumulate sick leave credits, or earn vacation but shall retain the seniority, sick leave credits, and vacation credits earned prior to commencing leave of absence. c) Employees do not have the option of continuing their benefit coverage during the leave. d) Employees on leave of absence shall be required to apply for any extension.

  • LEAVE OF ABSENCE 14.01 An employee requesting a leave of absence shall apply to his Supervisor and if such leave is granted it shall be authorized in writing but shall not exceed one hundred eighty (180) days, provided, however, that if an emergency arises which prevents the employee on leave from returning at the end of the leave granted, he may apply for an extension. (a) Not withstanding the above, an employee with fifteen (15) years of more of service may apply once for a special leave of absence at the time vacations are being scheduled for the following year subject to the following conditions: (i) The employee's leave of absence must be taken in conjunction with the employee's remaining vacation entitlement in excess of two (2) week’s vacation. An employee may request that the leave of absence be taken in conjunction with full vacation entitlement and, (ii) Leaves of absence and vacation may only be taken during the period October 1st to June 21st and, (iii) The employee must apply in writing to the Operations Manager. It is understood that the granting and scheduling of such leave of absence will be subject to the needs of operations and an assessment of the reasons for the request for leave. 14.02 Upon written application to the Manager, the Company will grant extended leaves of absence, without pay, to not more than one (1) member of the Union to enable him to attend to the affairs of the Union. During any such leave of absence all service rights shall be retained except that service rights shall not be counted for the period of such leave of absence. Any such leave of absence shall not exceed six (6) months and not more than two (2) leaves of absence shall be applied for or granted in any calendar year regardless of the duration thereof. 14.03 Upon written application to the Manager at least two (2) weeks prior to the event, the Company will grant leave of absence to not more than two (2) employees from any one (1) division to attend to the business of the Union. Notwithstanding the provisions of Clause 14.03, the Company shall be under no obligation to grant any leave of absence to attend to the business of the Union for more than: (a) One (1) employee from any of the following areas: Die Room Welders Utilities Electrical Annealers, or (b) Two (2) employees from any of the following areas:

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Employees when applying for such leave shall indicate the proposed date of departure and return. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • TEMPORARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE A. Members shall be entitled to the following temporary leaves of absence with full pay each school year. Such days of temporary leave must be taken as either one-half (1/2) or one (1) full working day. No personal leaves of absence shall be taken immediately prior to or immediately after holidays or vacations. Any exceptions must be requested in writing to the Superintendent or his designee and must have written approval. 1. Members are entitled to three (3) days personal leave annually subject to advance notice and approval secured from the Superintendent or designee. Personal leave means an activity that requires the member’s presence during the working day and is of such a nature that it cannot be attended to at a time when schools are not in session. Unused personal days shall be transferred to accumulated sick leave time on July 1st each year of this Agreement and all succeeding Agreements. 2. Up to five (5) working days at any one time shall be granted to members in the event of death of a member’s spouse, child, son-in- law, daughter-in-law, parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, or any person with whom the member has made his/her home, and any other member of the immediate household. 3. In the case of the death of a near relative, defined as first cousin, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew, there shall be no deduction from personal leave entitlement of up to three (3) days, subject to advance notice to and approval of the Superintendent. 4. A member shall also be granted a reasonable amount of bereavement time with full pay for the purpose of travel in cases where the funeral is out of state. Such time off is subject to the approval of the Assistant Superintendent to whom the member is reportable. 5. Any other leave of absence granted by the Board may be without pay. 6. No leave of absence with pay shall be granted due to the requirements of a second job. 7. Professional leave for such purposes as attending meetings, seminars and visiting other schools may be granted. 8. If a member is subpoenaed by a court of law to appear on behalf of the Board, such member shall do so without loss of pay.
