Professional Development/Conference Leave. (a) Full-time and part-time (four (4) shifts or more per fortnight) Employees will be entitled to five (5) days professional development/conference leave per year (pro- rata for part-time Employees). This leave is in addition to other leave entitlements in the Agreement subject to the provisions of clause 50(e). To access the benefits of this provision it is the responsibility of the Employee to make an application for this leave. Professional development/ conference leave will be available in full on 1 January each year, provided that the maximum leave balance will not exceed 10 days (pro-rata for part-time Employees).
(b) An application for this leave, nominating the preferred date(s) will be made in writing providing a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken. The application may be for research, attendance at seminars and conferences.
(c) This application shall be made at least six (6) weeks' prior to the requested date(s) and shall be approved by the CEO or nominee. The application shall not be unreasonably refused.
(d) The Employee will be required to report on the seminar/conference etc to the CEO or nominee where requested.
(e) Employees may access Professional Development/Conference leave to attend approved professional development activities at times where the Employee is not rostered to work (e.g. on weekends, ADOs or after hours), subject to the following:
a. the Employer will grant the Employee Time in Lieu for the period of the professional development activities, with such Time In Lieu to be at the ordinary rate (that is time for time);
b. at the time the Professional Development/Conference leave is approved the Employee and Manager must schedule the taking of such Time In Lieu;
c. the Time In Lieu shall be taken within 14 days of the professional development activity finishing unless otherwise agreed; and
d. a maximum of three (3) of the five (5) days Professional Development/Conference leave may be utilised for professional development activities at times where the Employee is not rostered to work (e.g. on weekends, ADOs or after hours).
Professional Development/Conference Leave. (a) The employer has traditionally ensured that operating budgets make reasonable provision for the ongoing professional development of staff. The Employer will encourage all staff to attend seminars and conferences on a regular basis provided that they are relevant to the employment at the establishment and the site at which the employee works.
(b) The employer further agrees that full-time employees will be entitled to three days professional development/conference leave per year. Part time Employees will be entitled to professional development/conference leave on a pro-rata basis with a minimum of 1 days paid professional development/conference leave per year. This leave is in addition to other leave entitlements in the Agreement. To access the benefits of this provision it is the responsibility of the employee to make an application for this leave.
(c) This leave is to be taken within each calendar year and is cumulative to a maximum of two calendar years.
(d) An application for this leave, nominating the preferred date(s) will be made in writing providing a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken. The application may be for research, attendance at seminars and/or conferences.
(e) This application shall be made at least six weeks' prior to the requested date(s) and shall be approved by the Regional Manager. The application shall not be unreasonably refused. Such application shall be made and considered in accordance with the Employer's policy.
(f) Any reimbursement to the employee will occur after the completion of the conference/seminar with the intention of providing a satisfactory written or verbal report to the Regional Manager and presentation of such report to colleagues.
Professional Development/Conference Leave. 35.1 The Employer requires the highest care and service to be maintained to patients. It is recognised that there is a shared responsibility in respect to Allied Health Professional employees maintaining and updating their knowledge and skills.
35.2 The Employer has traditionally ensured that operating budgets make reasonable provision for the ongoing professional development of health professional staff. The Hospital will encourage all health professional staff to attend relevant seminars and conferences on a regular basis. Costs may either be shared or paid for in total by the Hospital if appropriate.
35.3 The Employer further agrees that full-time and part-time health professional staff will be entitled to one day but up to three days professional development/conference leave per year. This leave is to be in addition to any other leave entitlements in the Agreement. To access the benefits of this provision it is the responsibility of the employee to make an application for this leave.
35.4 This leave is to be taken within each calendar year and is not cumulative.
35.5 An application for this leave, nominating the preferred date will be made in writing providing a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken. The application may be for research, attendance at seminars and conferences.
35.6 This application shall be made at least six weeks prior to the requested date and shall be at approved at the discretion of the Health Professional Manager/Director of Hospital. The application shall not be unreasonably refused. The Health professional will be required to report on the seminar/conference to the manager and possibly their peers.
Professional Development/Conference Leave. (i) Each full time employee (pro-rata for part time and casual ), with 6 months or more continuous service with the Employer, is entitled to access up to 3 days paid leave for the purposes of attendance at approved conferences/ seminars. Each application will be assessed on its merits in the context of the applicability of the conference/ seminar, the number of other similar applications and the resources available to the employer. The paid leave prescribed, if approved, is to be taken within each financial year and is not cumulative.
(ii) The paid leave prescribed in (i) is for undertaking training, attendance at conferences/ seminars or other forms of approved education. The paid leave must be approved by the Employer prior to the employee taking such leave. The employee seeking paid leave must submit a leave form for approval. Approval for such leave will be from the manager or their delegate.
(iii) The time and manner of taking any entitlement under this provision is to be mutually agreed between the employer and the employee and the course and means of dissemination of conference/seminar information is to be approved by hospital management. Should mutual agreement not be possible on repeated occasions this matter is to be referred to the manager or their delegate for resolution under the dispute resolution process.

Professional Development/Conference Leave. 20.1 The Blood Service supports employee’s being provided with access to learning and development opportunities, which will enhance their ability to work competently in their role and fulfil professional development requirements.
20.2 Full time employees are entitled to ten (10) days paid leave each two (2) years of service.
20.3 Financial support and paid or unpaid leave to attend conferences, professional studies and/or course studies will be provided in accordance with Blood Service policy.
Professional Development/Conference Leave. 18.1 In addition to the leave prescribed in Clause 14, the Employer has traditionally ensured that operating budgets make reasonable provision for the ongoing professional development of staff. The Employer will encourage all staff to attend relevant seminars and conferences on a regular basis. Costs will either be shared or paid for in total by the Employer when appropriate.
18.2 The Employer further agrees that full-time and part time employees under this Agreement will be entitled to two days professional development/conference leave (pro-rata for part time) per year. This leave is in addition to any other leave entitlements in the Awards. To access the benefits of this provision it is the responsibility of the employee to make an application for this leave.
18.3 This leave is to be taken within each calendar year and is not cumulative.
18.4 An application for this leave, nominating the preferred date(s) will be made in writing providing a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken. The application may be for research, attendance at seminars and conferences.
18.5 This application shall be made at least four weeks' prior to the requested date(s) and approval by the Employer shall not be unreasonably refused.
18.6 The employee may be required to report on the seminar/conference etc to the Manager.
Professional Development/Conference Leave. (i) The Employer will support all Support Services Employees to attend seminars and conferences for the maintenance and development of knowledge and skills relevant to the Employee’s employment with the Employer and their classification duties.
(ii) Each full-time Employee (pro-rata for part-time Employees) will be entitled to access up to 5 days’ paid professional development/conference leave per year to attend approved conferences/seminars. This leave is in addition to other leave entitlements in the Agreement. This leave is to be taken within each calendar year and is not cumulative.
(iii) To access the benefits of this provision, it is the responsibility of the Employee to make an application for this leave. The application for this leave, nominating the preferred date(s) must be made in writing, providing a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken. The application will be made at least six weeks’ prior to the requested date(s) and is subject to approval by the IVF Australia Operations Manager or Managing Director.
(iv) Each application will be assessed on its merits in the context of the applicability of the conference/seminar, the number of other similar applications and the resources available to the Employer.
Professional Development/Conference Leave. 46.1 The Employer encourages all nursing staff to attend relevant seminars and conferences on a regular basis. Costs will either be shared or paid for in total by the Employer in amounts agreed between the parties on a case by case basis.
46.2 Full-time and part-time (four shifts or more per fortnight) Employees will be entitled to 3 days professional development/conference leave per year. This leave is in addition to other leave entitlements in the Agreement. To access the benefits of this provision it is the responsibility of the Employee to make an application for this leave. This leave is to be taken within each calendar year and is not cumulative.
46.3 An application for this leave, nominating the preferred date(s), will be made in writing providing a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken and the relevance to the Employee’s work. The application may be for research, attendance at seminars and conferences.
46.4 This application will be made at least 6 weeks prior to the requested date(s) and may be approved by the Regional Manager with such approval not to be withheld unreasonably.
46.5 The Nurses may be required to provide feedback and educational information on the seminar/conference to the relevant Regional Manager or Nurse coordinator.
Professional Development/Conference Leave. 44.1 The Hospital has traditionally ensured that operating budgets make reasonable provision for the ongoing professional development of nursing staff. The Organisation will encourage all nursing staff to attend relevant seminars and conferences on a regular basis. Costs will either be shared or paid for in total by the organisation when appropriate.
44.2 The Hospital further agrees that full-time and part-time (four shifts or more per fortnight) Nurses will be entitled to 2 days professional development/conference leave per year. This leave is in addition to other leave entitlements in the Agreement. To access the benefits of this provision it is the responsibility of the employee to make an application for this leave. This leave is to be taken within each calendar year and is not cumulative.
44.3 An application for this leave, nominating the preferred date(s) will be made in writing providing a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken. The application may be for research, attendance at seminars and conferences.
44.4 This application shall be made at least six weeks prior to the requested date(s) and shall be approved by the DoN. The application shall not be unreasonably refused.
44.5 The Nurses will be required to report on the seminar/conference etc to the DoN and agree to offer in-house in-servicing of other staff within the quarter following attendance as determined by the hospital.
