Promotional Appointment. Promotions shall be made from each eligibility list by promoting one of the top three (3) scoring individuals on the list.
Promotional Appointment. The Mayor shall make promotions from the eligible list by promoting from the top four (4) ranked individuals for any vacancy in the rank of Sergeant, except where there are fewer than four (4) candidates.
Promotional Appointment. The probationary period shall be used in connection with promotional appointments in the same manner as it is used for original entrance appointments. If a person is removed during his/her probationary period following a promotion, he/she shall be entitled to re- employment rights in his/her former class.
Promotional Appointment. All appointments to the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant shall be filled by promotional appointment under the provisions of this Article and under such provisions of the rules of the Gahanna Civil Service Commission (“CSC”) which are not in conflict with the provisions of this Article.
Promotional Appointment. All appointments to the rank of Sergeant shall be filled by promotional appointment of Police Officers within the Department, as provided in this Article.
Promotional Appointment. Except as indicated in Section 2.3.C below, employees who are promoted into a classification represented by AFSCME shall serve a six month probationary period of continuous service in the higher classification.
Promotional Appointment. Any employee who fails to successfully complete the probationary period following a promotional appointment shall be reinstated to the position that the employee held prior to the promotion, assuming there are no grounds for termination and the employee can perform the essential functions of the prior position.
Promotional Appointment. The City shall fill supervisory ranks covered under this agreement using the process outlined by the City of Upper Arlington Civil Service Rules and Regulations pertaining to promotion. Candidates shall be selected using the “rule of 3” as defined by the Civil Service Rules. For appointments to the rank of Deputy Chief/Assistant Chief, if an internal applicant and external applicant are otherwise equal, preference shall be given to the internal candidate.
Promotional Appointment. Employees who are promoted shall serve a six month probation period of continuous service in the higher classification. The promotional probation period shall be one year for Public Works Maintenance Worker III. Any employee serving a promotional probation period may be returned to his former classification during such probation period if a vacancy exists, but such probation period shall not be extended. Any employee serving a promotional probationary period may request to be returned to his/her former classification. Further, if the employee so requests, said employee shall be returned to his/her last regular classification during the probationary period or as soon as possible, provided that a vacancy exists and there are no other actions pending against the employee.
Promotional Appointment. Promotional appointments shall be made from the first three (3) candidates on the eligible list who are ready and willing to accept the position offered.
