Renderings and Traffic Simulation. The Engineer shall develop visualizing techniques which provides an efficient design process through 3-D video and a fully immersed virtual experience. The process begins with creating base geometry in Infraworks which is an efficient preliminary 3-D design tool, utilizing aerial, mapping, and 3-D elements built into the software. Alternatives are then developed in 3-D, based on horizontal, vertical, and cross section components, which can be converted seamlessly to 3-D flyover videos, or can be actively reviewed by stakeholders using the Infraworks online viewer. This provides a quick and efficient alternatives development process and high quality public involvement tools. The model includes slope stake limits, realistic renderings and traffic. The ENGINEER shall develop an Infraworks model for the 142 mile corridor for up to 3 alternatives. Detailed design components such as special interchange geometry shall be developed in Microstation to form a base for import into Infraworks. A 3-D flyover video shall be created for up to 3 alternatives. From the model, the ENGINEER shall determine preliminary quantities, and view ROW impacts. To further enhance the experience the Engineer shall utilize HoloLens technology to provide a fully immersive experience using Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR). VR utilizes a gaming platform to create a full virtual electronic view of alternatives. Virtual design of MR projects allows for a table top projection to show a scaled down version of the project, which can be stepped into to see full scale. It can be walked around in while still seeing the real world around us enabling a host to point out design features. The Engineer shall develop a VR and/or MR experience for up to 3 locations with up to 3 alternatives per location and present the models at AWG meetings, and the public meetings.

In support of the Public Outreach effort, one Build Alternative will be chosen by the State to be carried forward for development of one rendering and one traffic animation. A 3D model shall be created for the Build Alternative from supplied: horizontal and vertical alignments, existing and proposed digital terrain models (DTMs), proposed typical sections, traffic counts, and ground photography. The project limits as indicated above, excluding the Xxxxxx urban area, will be included. The Engineer shall create the video using animation sequences combined with video post-production graphics to make a user-friendly description of the project. Items will be added such as: project location map, direction of the camera, animation, street names, and description/call-outs of new features. Video can be divided into sections with a webpage that allows the viewer to navigate to individual sections. DocuSign Envelope ID: 08011FCF-93C2-4F54-8A05-20A33047A1D8 Deliverables:
Renderings and Traffic Simulation. The Engineer shall develop renderings, three-dimensional (3D) models, illustrations, and animations as a means of expression and understanding for what the owner of a project envisions and what the public perceives. In support of the Public meeting effort, up to six (6) profile renderings or illustrations must be prepared to describe the roadway typical sections including features of the preferred alternative and post it to the Project Web Page. A 3D model must be created for the geometric design schematic of the preferred alternative from the horizontal and vertical alignments, existing and proposed digital terrain models (DTMs), proposed typical sections, traffic counts, and ground photography. An orthographic plan view roll plot at scale 1”=100’, six renderings and one fly through animation must be prepared for the preferred alternative for viewing at the Public Hearing as well as the Project Web Page. The plan view roll must be on several sheets up to 36” wide by 10 feet in length. The animations and renderings must give the public and stakeholders a clear awareness and appreciation for how traffic must flow into and out of the project area. For the preferred alternative, the Engineer shall create one (1) 3D fly over of the IH 35W study area limits. Within 1000 feet from centerline, the Engineer shall include road surfaces, shoulders, barrier walls, previously approved sound/screen walls (if proposed), guard fences, crash attenuators, sidewalks, curb and gutters, traffic signals, and striping. Buildings and major structures are also included. Highway/local lighting and existing/proposed landscaping are excluded. Outside 1000 feet from the centerline, and up to the 3D model limits, a generic depiction of existing vegetation must be provided. The Engineer shall create 3D animation using generic traffic. Traffic animation for Level of Service depiction such as developed for Synchro, VISSUM, or CORSIM is excluded.
