Resident Educator. A Resident Educator is a teacher employed under a resident educator license.
Resident Educator. Each Resident Educator shall be provided the equivalent of two (2) days release time per year for the purpose of observing classes, meetings with his/her Mentor/Facilitator, attending recommended workshops, assessment preparation, etc. Additional release time shall be granted at the discretion of the Principal.
Resident Educator. A teacher in the first year of employment under a four year license who will be provided formative assistance by a consulting mentor teacher.
Resident Educator. Per ODE’s guidelines, to be eligible to participate in the Resident Educator program, beginning teachers must:
a. Hold a valid resident educator license or alternative resident educator license of any type, or a one (1) year out of state educator license.
b. Teach at least two (2) classes or .25 FTE in their area of licensure or in the area in which the teacher holds a supplemental teaching license.
c. Be responsible for planning and delivering standards-based, pre-K-12 curriculum to students and evaluating their progress.
d. Work one hundred twenty (120) days as defined by Ohio Revised Code. Per District guidelines, the Resident Educator must:
a. Work cooperatively with mentor teacher.
b. Attend the one (1) day new teacher orientation prior to the start of school (Year 1 Resident Educators only).
c. Attend up to five (5) District Professional Development Meetings for Year 1 Resident Educators only.
Resident Educator a Member of the bargaining unit in the first four (4) years of employment working under a resident educator license or alternative resident educator license.
Resident Educator. A resident educator (RE) is a teacher employed under a resident educator license.
Resident Educator a teacher entering the teaching profession for the first time holding a resident educator license or a two year provisional license.
Resident Educator. If at any time the County Office (ESC) is unable to continue to operate the resident educator program, negotiations will reopen on this issue only, so long as the resident educator program is still a state requirement.
Resident Educator a. The Resident Educator shall be assured of professional release time during the work day to meet with their assigned Mentor, attend mandated Resident Educator Program meetings, and to complete the necessary observations required in the program.
b. The Resident Educator may exercise the option to request a new Mentor. If a new Mentor is assigned, the former Mentor shall have his/her supplemental contract terminated without recourse to either party. Both Mentors shall receive a pro-rated share of the former Mentor's supplemental salary.
Resident Educator. 1. Each Resident Educator shall be given an initial orientation on the following matters:
a. The pupils and community to be served;
b. School policies, procedures, and routines consistent with this Agreement;
c. Courses of study, competency-based education programs, and responsibilities for lesson plans consistent with this Agreement;
d. The layout of the facilities of the assigned school building(s);
e. The nature of the Resident Educator Program which will be provided; and,
f. Additional information a Resident Educator may need to be adequately prepared for a specific assignment.
2. Each Resident Educator shall be provided with the following:
a. Assistance in acquiring knowledge of the school curriculum, responsibilities for implementing that curriculum, and the instructional resources available for such implementation;
b. Assistance with the management tasks identified as especially difficult for beginning teachers;
c. Assistance in the improvement of instructional skills and classroom management; and
d. The opportunity to consult/observe other teachers both within and outside of the District.
e. The Resident Educator shall be provided release time for the purpose of observing classes, meetings with his/her Mentor, attending recommended workshops, assessment preparation, etc., coordinated with the Building Principal/Immediate Supervisor. Such time is in addition to any additional Professional Leave requested and approved pursuant to this Agreement.
f. The Resident Educator is not required to complete an IPDP or to utilize the LPDC process.
g. All reasonable efforts will be made by the Administration to assign an equitable workload/schedule to a Resident Educator.
