Salary on Employment. Newly hired employees shall be compensated at the base rate of the salary range of the job classification for which they are hired. When economic conditions, unusual employment conditions or exceptional qualifications of a candidate for employment indicate that a higher hiring rate would be in the City’s best interest, the Human Resources Director may authorize hiring at a higher rate in the salary range. The provisions of this section shall also apply to reinstated employees.

When economic conditions, unusual employment conditions or exceptional qualifications of a candidate for employment indicate that a higher hiring rate would be in the City’s best interest, the Human Resources Director may authorize hiring at a higher step in the salary range. The provisions of this section shall also apply to reinstated employees. 1604 Salary Ranges: General employees shall be assigned to a salary range consisting of seven steps of approximately 5% increase in each step. The top step of the salary range will be based on the market rate, e.g., the average of the top step of comparable positions in comparable agencies. Salary ranges will also be set in consideration of internal pay relationships. 1605 Increases in Pay Within the Salary Range: Any pay increase within a salary range is not automatic and shall be granted only for continued meritorious and efficient service by the employee in the effective performance of his/her duties.
Salary on Employment. All unit members shall be appointed at the hiring rate for the class which shall be the first step of the schedule, unless an accelerated hiring rate is established by the Office to aid recruitment. The Union shall be notified prior to establishing an accelerated rate. If either party requests negotiations, the parties will meet to negotiate the impact of said accelerated rate and related matters. Such negotiations shall not delay the implementation of the accelerated rate. Nothing shall preclude placement at any other step, if agreed to in writing between the Union business representative and the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resource Services.

  • Retroactive Pay for Terminated Employees An employee who has retired or severed his/her employment between the termination date of this Agreement and the effective date of the new Agreement shall receive the full retroactivity of any increase in wages, salaries or other benefits.

  • Casual Employment (a) A casual employee is an employee engaged as such on an hourly basis.
