Scheduling of Christmas and New Year's Holidays - Before November 15th of each year the employees will advise the Company, in writing, of their preference of scheduling of Christmas or New Year's holidays. The employee's choice of Christmas or New Year's Day shall be granted based on Company seniority within the job classification and each employee, if he/she so requests it, shall be scheduled off on either Christmas or New Year's Day. Confirmation of the employee’s request for either holiday shall be posted by the Company by December 1. This Article shall not apply to an employee who has elected to substitute a holiday for either Christmas or New Year's Day (Article 13.2). The Company will make its best efforts to arrange that an employee who has Christmas day or New Year's Day off not be required to work past 20:00 hours on the eve of that holiday. No payment will be made to the employee for any encroachment created by changes in regular shift patterns in order to comply with the employee's request pursuant to this Article.

Scheduling of Christmas and New Year’s Holidays - Employees shall submit their wishes for scheduling of Christmas and New Year’s holidays no later than the thirty-first (31) day of October. At least five (5) full working days prior to the thirty-first (31st) day of October, the Employer will post on its boards a notice to ascertain the individual wishes of the employees. The Employer will post a final vacation schedule by November 15th of each year. Where preference within a functional group conflict, seniority shall govern, as long as the senior employee has provided his vacation request to the Employer by the October 31st deadline. All vacations will be granted as shown in the final vacation schedule provided operational requirements permit.

The employees' choice of days off shall be granted on the basis of Company seniority within the functional group and each employee, if he so requests shall be scheduled off on either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. An employee scheduled off on one of these days shall not be required to work beyond 6:00 p.m. on the eve of that holiday. An employee shall be informed by November 15th whether their chose of Christmas Day or New Year’s Day has been granted. In the case of News Bureaus, the Company reserves the right to schedule Christmas and New Year's days off on a bureau-by- bureau basis. Company seniority shall apply only in those Bureaus with multiple crews.
