Section 4 – Rest Periods establishes the rules and minimum requirements for breaks and rest intervals that must be provided to employees during their working hours. Typically, this clause outlines the duration and frequency of rest periods, such as short breaks during shifts and longer meal breaks, and may specify whether these breaks are paid or unpaid. By clearly defining rest periods, the clause ensures employee well-being, helps prevent fatigue, and promotes compliance with labor regulations.
Section 4 – Rest Periods. It is recognized that the regular scheduling of rest and meal breaks may occasionally be impossible. Communications Center Operators may utilize two (2) fifteen (15) minute break periods per eight hour shift, either taken separately or collectively as approved by their supervisor or the police shift supervisor. Rest or meal breaks may be eliminated without notice due to emergency situations or critical incidents.
Section 4 – Rest Periods. The Agency will grant rest periods whenever possible on a twice daily basis scheduled at the supervisor’s discretion. Rest periods shall not be more than fifteen (15) minutes duration for every four (4) hours of work, or major fraction thereof, and shall be taken as work will allow in the middle part of the work period. If the Agency requires a scheduled ten (10) hour day, then a rest period of twenty (20) minutes shall be taken in the middle of the five (5) hour period. The Agency will attempt to relieve an employee during the rest period so that they may take rest periods away from their duty assignment; however, Field Crews will not be allowed to leave their worksite to travel to coffee shops, etc. When the supervisor determines the rest period cannot be taken, the employee shall be allowed compensatory time at the rate of time and one-half (1½) to be taken at the end of the day or on another day, by mutual agreement between the employee and the supervisor.
Section 4 – Rest Periods. All employees shall be permitted a fifteen (15) minute rest period both in the first half and the second half of the shift, to be taken at a designated time. Employees, when it is deemed necessary, may be required to take their rest periods on the premises. This is applicable to employees working for four (4) or more consecutive hours per day or in the case of a clerical employee working a full consecutive half shift or more.
Section 4 – Rest Periods. 30 For non-exempt employees, a rest period of fifteen (15) minutes for every 31 segment of four (4) hours of work will be given. As much as possible, this 32 break should be taken approximately midway in the segment of the four (4)- 1 hour period and shall be scheduled by the County in accordance with its 2 determination as to the operating requirements of each employee's duties.
Section 4 – Rest Periods. 306 Employees are permitted a rest period not to exceed fifteen (15) minutes during the first 307 half of their work shift, and fifteen (15) minutes during the second half of their work shift. The 308 rest period is to be preceded and followed by an extended work period.
Section 4 – Rest Periods. Any employee who works a minimum of a seven and a half (7½) hour work shift shall be given two (2) fifteen (15) minute breaks, one (1) in the first half of their shift and one (1) in second half of their shift. Employees shall be allowed to smoke in areas designated by the Employer unless prohibited in the future by County Board action. In the event that the County takes action to further restrict smoking access, the employer agrees to give the Union 30 days’ notice.

  • Meal/Rest Periods All employees shall receive an unpaid meal period of one-half (1/2) hour. Employees who are required to work during their meal period shall be paid for the time worked as required by law. All employees shall be allowed a paid rest period of fifteen (15) minutes in each half shift of four (4) hours or more duration. Employees shall immediately contact their supervisor (or designee) in the event they determine that they may be unable to take a rest break, so that other arrangements may be made.

  • Rest Periods All employees shall have two, 15-minute rest periods in each work period in excess of six hours, one rest period to be granted before and one after the meal period. Employees working a shift of three and one-half hours, but not more than six hours, shall receive one rest period during such a shift. Rest periods shall not begin until one hour after the commencement of work or not later than one hour before either the meal period or the end of the shift. Rest periods shall be taken without loss of pay to the employees.

  • Rest Period During each normal work day, Saturdays, Sundays, and shift work, employees will be entitled to two (2) ten (10) minute paid rest periods to be scheduled and observed. When working a four (4) day, ten (10) hour schedule, the rest period will be fifteen (15) minutes each. - one (1) rest period at the mid-way point of the first half of the normal hours of work; - one (1) rest period at the mid-point of the second half of the normal hours of work. Rest period will be measured from ceasing work to commencement of labour and will be taken at a time determined by the employer.

  • Interest Periods In connection with each LIBOR Rate Loan, the Borrower, by giving notice at the times described in Section 3.1(a), shall elect an interest period (each, an "Interest Period") to be applicable to such Loan, which Interest Period shall be a period of one (1), two (2), three (3) or six (6) months with respect to each LIBOR Rate Loan; provided that: (i) the Interest Period shall commence on the date of advance of or conversion to any LIBOR Rate Loan or and, in the case of immediately successive Interest Periods, each successive Interest Period shall commence on the date on which the next preceding Interest Period expires; (ii) if any Interest Period would otherwise expire on a day that is not a Business Day, such Interest Period shall expire on the next succeeding Business Day; provided, that if any Interest Period with respect to a LIBOR Rate Loan would otherwise expire on a day that is not a Business Day but is a day of the month after which no further Business Day occurs in such month, such Interest Period shall expire on the next preceding Business Day; (iii) any Interest Period with respect to a LIBOR Rate Loan that begins on the last Business Day of a calendar month (or on a day for which there is no numerically corresponding day in the calendar month at the end of such Interest Period) shall end on the last Business Day of the relevant calendar month at the end of such Interest Period; (iv) no Interest Period shall be permitted to extend beyond the Termination Date; and (v) there shall be no more than five (5) Interest Periods outstanding at any time.
