Selection for Retrenchment a) NPA will ask for volunteers for redundancy where practical.
Selection for Retrenchment. The options of voluntary redundancy, redeployment and reductions through natural attrition will be considered. The selection of individuals for redundancy shall have as its main aim the safeguarding of the business. In all circumstances, the requirement to maintain the necessary skills to operate the business effectively must be taken into account. When positions to be made redundant have been identified, ACS may call for volunteers from suitable employees with skills or classifications that match those positions. The volunteer would receive full benefits of this Agreement provision. ACS reserves the right to refuse an offer of voluntary retrenchment based on the skills, performance, or experience of each employee. Further redundancy requirements will be determined by ACS and involve consideration of the above factors and seniority in consultation with the employees affected. GENERAL BENEFITS Certificate of Service Each employee shall receive upon retrenchment a certificate of service upon which the reason for termination shall be noted. Centrelink Notification Centrelink will be advised of retrenchments and ACS will provide, if requested by Centrelink, reasonable interview facilities for Centrelink representatives. Time off for Interviews During the period of notice of retrenchment given by ACS, an employee shall be allowed up to one day without loss of pay during each week of notice, for the purpose of seeking other employment. If the employee has been allowed paid leave for more than one day during the notice period for the purpose of seeking other employment, the employee shall, at the request of ACS, be required to produce proof of attendance at an interview or he or she shall not receive payment for the time absent. For this purpose a statutory declaration will be sufficient. In the event of proof being given relating to a job interview where distance would preclude this being done in one day, consideration will be given to extending this time off (without loss of pay) to two days, but during the period of notice the maximum amount of time given off will in days be equal to the number of weeks notice.
