Service for Leave Purposes. 6.2.1 Except as provided in clause 6.2.5 below, ‘continuous service’ for leave purposes shall mean the aggregate of the employee’s employment with any state or integrated school.

7.1.3 Continuous service", for the purpose of the provisions for long service leave shall not include any period of less than six months unbroken service, or any period of service followed by a break of more than three months, other than an approved leave of absence without pay.
7.1.4 Any period of employment for which an employee has received a benefit for severance or early retirement from a previous employer shall not be credited for "service" in any of the provisions of this Clause.

a. Service in relation to the total period of an employee's service for the purposes of annual leave means:
i. The aggregate of the employee's periods of service with the Polytechnic but not including any period of broken service except when the employee is on approved leave of absence without pay for a period not exceeding three (3) months.
b. In any instance where an employee has received a benefit for severance or early retirement such employment which has been taken account of in calculating the benefit shall not be credited for "service" for the purposes of clause i above.
