Step Placement Upon Promotion. When promoted from one class to another class the employee shall be placed at the same step in the new range on the salary schedule to which the employee would be entitled on the basis of continuous years of service within the District.
Step Placement Upon Promotion. A Police Officer who is promoted to Police Sergeant shall be appointed to the first step of the salary range for Police Sergeant or the step that provides at least a 5.5% increase, whichever is higher. Special assignment pay shall be added to base salary for the purpose of establishing the initial salary step placement of a promoted employee. Benefits and leave rights shall be available to employees on probation as a result of accepting a promotion. The effective date of the promotion shall be the first day of the pay period following the promotion date. The employee’s anniversary date for the position into which the employee is promoted (which determines step increases for that position) shall be the effective date of the promotion. For promotions, the City will ensure they are paid within six months of Human Resources receiving the personnel action form.
Step Placement Upon Promotion. Each employee promoted under the provisions of this Agreement will move to a wage grade of the higher classification which provides them with a wage increase. Any employee promoting into a supervisory position shall received a wage increase of at least 10%.

In the event an individual is appointed or promoted to any sworn police position at step 3, he/she shall not be eligible for a salary increase after 6 months of service, but shall be eligible for a salary step increase upon the completion of one year of service, provided said employee has met the standards as provided through the Employee Evaluation Program.
