Suppression Division. The Fire Chief must give written notification to the next most senior member who is eligible to qualify in the suppression pool process.
Suppression Division. All Probationers are eligible to qualify as Fire Fighters. All Senior (First Class) Fire Fighters are eligible to qualify as Lieutenants. Lieutenants and Acting Lieutenants are eligible to qualify as Captains, and Captains and Acting Captains are eligible to qualify as Battalion Chiefs. The number of applicants accepted will remain as follows: Battalion Chief Pool 12 Captain Pool 12 Lieutenant Pool 16
Suppression Division. Prerequisites:
Suppression Division. (a) Hours of work shall consist of 24 hour shifts. Employees must be off duty a minimum of twenty four (24) hours between 24 hour shifts, subject to the exigencies of service. Current schedule shall apply. See Appendix ‘A’
(b) Employees shall not work in excess of a forty-two (42) hour work week averaged over a 28 day cycle, excluding authorized overtime.
(c) Shifts shall commence at 08:00 hours.
(d) The Parties agree that all required reports shall be completed and submitted prior to the end of the shift. Where management determines that it is not possible to complete required reports by the end of the shift due to the call occurring in the last hour of the shift, there shall exist mandatory overtime, (paid at the rate of 1.5 times the appropriate rate of pay), for the purpose of completing and submitting the required reports.
(e) Subject to compliance with 13.02 (a), a Fire Fighter may voluntarily extend (before or after) their 24 hour shift to a maximum of four (4) hours if they have:
1. a preapproved Partial Duty Exchange form;
2. a prescheduled meeting; 3. training; or
Suppression Division. Holiday in-lieu pay for represented members assigned to the Suppression Division shall be increased from 5 percent to 5.5 percent effective the first pay period ending July 2007.

(b) Fourth Class Firefighter to Third Class Firefighter requires completion of two (2) years’ service in the Suppression Division.
(c) Third Class Firefighter to Second Class Firefighter requires completion of three (3) years’ service in the Suppression Division.
(d) Second Class Firefighter to First Class Firefighter requires completion of four (4) years’ service in the Suppression Division.
Suppression Division a) One Suppression employee per shift will be allowed banked time off.
b) If banked overtime is taken as paid time off, all Suppression staff must take full shifts.
c) The City will manage the system of call back shifts for all short-term sickness and injury. The rate of pay for these shifts will be the equivalent to time and a half (1.5) the employee’s regular rate of pay to a maximum of time and a half (1.5) the 4th Year Firefighter rate of pay. Under the direction of the Fire Chief or their designate, the on-duty Platoon Captain will fill this role for the Association. In the event of any error or omission, the remedy is for the affected employee to remain at the top of the list for the next opportunity.
d) The City will manage the system of call back shifts for all long-term disability and WorkSafe sickness and injury and only when staffing levels are below roster level. The call back shifts will commence once a member commences long-term disability or WorkSafe sickness and injury. The rate of pay for these shifts will be time and a half (1.5) the employee’s regular rate of pay to a maximum of time and a half (1.5) the 4th Year Firefighter rate of pay. Under the direction of the Fire Chief or their designate, the on-duty Platoon Captain will fill this role for the Association if required for staffing levels. Suppression Division. A qualifying Board consisting of a Deputy Chief, Chief of Training, a Platoon Chief and one other Chief Officer from within the Association shall be appointed by the Fire Chief. A qualifying Board consisting of a Deputy Chief, Chief of Training, Chief of Fire Prevention and one other Chief Officer from within the Association shall be appointed by the Fire Chief. A qualifying Board consisting of a Deputy Chief, Chief of Training, Platoon Chief and one other Chief Officer from within the Association shall be appointed by the Fire Chief. A Qualifying Board consisting of a Deputy Chief, Chief of Training, Alarm Room Supervisor and one other Chief Officer from within the Association shall be appointed by the Fire Chief.
Suppression Division. All suppression staff must take lieu time in full shifts.
