Teacher Professional Leave. Full-time Teachers may be granted professional leave at the discretion of the Superintendent for up to two (2) days per year to 1. Attend a conference, workshop or seminar related to the Employee's assigned subject area or extra-duty assignment; or 2. Visit other schools, view instructional techniques or programs, view new classroom or teaching-related equipment, or to observe exemplary programs related to the Teacher’s field. Requests for professional leave days shall be submitted in writing at least ten (10) days in advance.

Leave Policy for State Athletic Tournaments and Activity Events: ➢ Step 1: Head Coach/Advisor will present a list of names to the Activities Director to be considered for leave to said event as soon as possible following their last event before the State Event. They will also present and discuss leave times and the days to be missed. ➢ Step 2: Activities Director will consider Head Coach/Advisors recommendation and will then consult with Superintendent and Business Manager. Teacher Professional Leave. 1. Each teacher may be allowed, at the discretion of the chief school administrator, two (2) days during each academic year, at full pay, for professional visits to other educational institutions or to attend academic meetings sponsored by other educational institutions or organizations. a. Each teacher, in requesting leave under this provision, shall submit using the District’s online professional learning management system in advance of the scheduled Board meeting prior to the date of the requested leave. b. The chief school administrator shall act upon the request and return it to the teacher within three (3) school days. c. If the chief school administrator has approved the request, the teacher may then utilize the day(s) requested. d. The chief school administrator or administrative designee may require said teacher to submit a brief summary of any such visit or meeting. Requests for leave in this section shall be made on the appropriate forms and submitted to the chief school administrator one (1) week in advance, if possible.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.

  • Civic Leave Civic leave is provided to faculty members who are a) subpoenaed to appear before any court or other legally constituted body authorized to compel the attendance of witnesses, where the employee is not a party to the action; or b) summoned for jury duty by any court of competent jurisdiction. Faculty members required to report or serve for only part of a day for court or jury duty are obligated to return for the remainder of that day unless otherwise authorized by the Chair. Faculty members are required to provide written notification of civic leave to the Chair as far in advance of the leave as possible. Documentation regarding the leave (e.g., a copy of the summons, subpoena) shall be attached to the notification. The faculty member may retain any money received as compensation or expense reimbursement for jury duty or court attendance compelled by the summons or subpoena.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Legal Leave 1The University shall grant leave of absence with pay to a member of faculty who is called to serve as a juror or a witness in a court of law in a matter in which he/she is not a party or an accused.

  • Professional Improvement Leave A teacher may be granted leave to be used for the teacher's professional improvement. Professional improvement days may be approved by the superintendent and used for the purpose of: 1. Visitation to view other instructional techniques or programs. 2. Conferences, workshops, or seminars conducted by colleges, universities, or vocational schools. The teacher planning to use a professional improvement day shall notify the principal at least one week in advance of the proposed absence. The teacher shall be required to file a written report with the principal within one (1) week of attendance at such event. Also, the teacher may/shall be requested to return with materials and/or information to be shared with other teachers. The expense of attending such visitation, conference, workshop, or seminar will be paid by the Board when the proper reimbursement applications are sent to the district office. In cases where attendance at a convention, workshop, seminar, or other educational activity is deemed to be of value only to the individual teacher, leave may be granted for attendance with either no expenses or limited expenses being underwritten by the district. In these cases, no written or verbal reports will be required.
