Test Pits Sample Clauses

Test Pits. This work will be measured for payment by the actual number of vertical linear feet excavated, measured from the existing ground surface to the bottom of the accepted test pit. Test pit depth shall be measured to the nearest half foot. • This work will be paid for at the contract unit price each for "Test Pits" of the specified excavation method, including all tools, material and equipment needed to excavate the test pit, backfill the area and patch the pavement (when present) and all other work incidental thereto. Fractions of a foot shall be paid at the fractional portion of the unit price. • If a test pit is excavated and no water main is found, the test pit will be considered unsuccessful and abandoned and the Contractor will be paid for the test pit at the contract unit price. No additional measurement or payment will be made for the widening of the excavation as described above. • If the Engineer or Inspector directs the Contractor to widening a test pit more than 50% of its original size, the original excavation will be considered 1 test pit with a depth measured for payment and the additional excavation will be considered as a second test pit and have its actual depth measured separately for payment.

Test Pits. The explorations will gather subsurface stratigraphy information and inform geotechnical analyses and project design efforts.
Test Pits. Test pits are conducted for the verification of existing geotechnical works as well as in areas containing associated infrastructural works (as defined by the basic design within this scope of works). Excavation and supervision of minimum of 20 test pits. The number of test pits may be amended upon ground assessment and/or basic design input. Test pits are excavated to 5.0m. From previous geotechnical investigations, soft to medium hard rock may be encountered within the area therefore plant selection must suit the prevalent ground conditions. All the test pits are profiled by an engineering geologist/ geotechnical engineer according toGuidelines for Soil and Rock Logging in SA, 2nd Impression’ (Brink and Bruin, 2002). All test pits are reinstated using the soil removed from pits following completion of soil profiling and sampling. Reinstated soils are adequately compacted to minimize differential settlements. The Consultant must take reasonable and sufficient steps in order to prevent, as far as is reasonably practicable, any person from being buried or trapped by a fall or dislodgement of material in an excavation; may not require or permit any person to work in an excavation which has not been adequately shored or braced as stipulated in Section 13 of Reference [12]. DYNAMIC PROBE SUPER HEAVY DPSH tests are conducted for the verification of existing geotechnical works as well as in areas containing associated infrastructural works (as defined by the basic design within this scope of works). A minimum of 20 tests are conducted.
Test Pits. A. Test pits for the purpose of locating underground utilities or structures as an aid in establishing the precise location of new work may be excavated by the Contractor. Test pits shall be backfilled as soon as the desired information has been obtained. The backfilled surface shall be maintained in a satisfactory condition for travel until resurfaced as hereinafter specified. B. Excavation and backfill of test pits shall be considered work incidental to the project and the cost shall be included in the appropriate bid item. C. If, for any reason, a test pit is left open for any period of time, it shall be properly barricaded and lighted by the Contractor.
Test Pits a) Test Pits are conducted within the proposed AD 4.1 & AD 4.2 areas, the AWRD and the AWTD. b) Excavation and supervision of test pits are conducted by a professionally registered engineering geologist or geotechnical engineer. c) Excavation and Supervision of 12 test pits. d) The Consultant sets out proposed test pit locations from the site layout information provided. e) All test pits are profiled by an engineering geologist/geotechnical engineer accordingly to “Guidelines for Soil and Rock Logging in SA, 2nd Impression” (Brink and Xxxxx, 0000). Test pit profiling and lab tests to be done to determine the usability of the insitu material for construction of the works. f) All test pits are reinstated using the soil removed from the test pit excavations following completion of soil profiling and sampling. g) Tests pits are excavated, in principle, to sufficient depth for the design of founding levels and to delineate overall ground conditions inclusive of the overall appropriate founding and materials levels. h) Reinstated soils are adequately compacted to minimize differential settlements. i) Sampling must be conducted on representative disturbed and undisturbed samples. Samples are collected, stored and labelled as per the relevant SAICE standards, and are transported carefully to a SANAS accredited laboratory. j) The Consultant must (i) take reasonable and sufficient steps in order to prevent, as far as is reasonably practicable, any person from being buried or trapped by a fall or dislodgement of material in an excavation; (ii) may not require or permit any person to work in an excavation which has not been adequately shored or braced as stipulated in Section 13 of [29].

Related to Test Pits

  • Test The outer surface of the lamp lenses shall be subjected once or more than once to the action of the sand jet produced as described above. The jet shall be sprayed almost perpendicular to the surface to be tested. The deterioration shall be checked by means of one or more samples of glass placed as a reference near the lenses to be tested. The mixture shall be sprayed until the variation in the diffusion of light on the sample or samples measured by the method described in Appendix 2, is such that: Δ d = (T5 - T4) / T2 ≤ 0.0250 ± 0.0025 Several reference samples may be used to check that the whole surface to be tested has deteriorated homogeneously.

  • Meter Testing Company shall provide at least twenty-four (24) hours' notice to Seller prior to any test it may perform on the revenue meters or metering equipment. Seller shall have the right to have a representative present during each such test. Seller may request, and Company shall perform, if requested, tests in addition to the every fifth-year test and Seller shall pay the cost of such tests. Company may, in its sole discretion, perform tests in addition to the fifth year test and Company shall pay the cost of such tests. If any of the revenue meters or metering equipment is found to be inaccurate at any time, as determined by testing in accordance with this Section 10.2 (Meter Testing), Company shall promptly cause such equipment to be made accurate, and the period of inaccuracy, as well as an estimate for correct meter readings, shall be determined in accordance with Section 10.3 (Corrections).
