Unauthorized absence from duty. Any unauthorized absence of an employee from duty shall be deemed to be an absence without pay and may be grounds for disciplinary action. Any employee who is absent without authorization for two (2) consecutive scheduled workdays may be deemed to have resigned after a review by Human Resources. When extenuating circumstances are found to have existed, however, the Employer may authorize such absence by a subsequent approval of leave with or without pay.‌

Any unit member absent from his/her assignment for any reason other 19 than those specifically authorized by law, the California Education 20 Code, Board Policy, or this Agreement, will be considered absent 21 without permission or authorized leave, and shall lose his/her full 22 salary for the period of unauthorized absence. 23 2. Improper use of any leave may be cause for appropriate disciplinary 24 action and may result in recovery of payment. 25 3. An extended absence from duty which does not qualify under any 26 authorized leave policy may be considered abandonment of 27 employment. 1 4. More than five (5) consecutive workdays of unauthorized absence 2 from duty shall be considered an extended absence.

  • Return from Leave of Absence (a) Before a Nurse may return to work from a leave granted under Article 9.00, she or he must provide a minimum of four (4) weeks written notice of the specific date of his or her return to work, or such shorter time as mutually agreed. (b) Upon return from an approved Unpaid Leave of Absence, a Nurse shall be reinstated to her or his former position unless the position has been discontinued, in which case the Nurse shall be appointed to an equivalent position. (c) This clause requiring four (4) weeks written notice, does not apply to other leaves granted by an express provision of this Collective Agreement with different requirements for written notice.

  • Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during his/her period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.
