Absence Without Pay. The deduction for each day of absence shall be determined by dividing 12 the base salary plus designated supplements by the total number of hours in the teacher’s contract 13 year to determine the base rate of pay, then multiplying that rate by the number of hours absent. 14 Designated supplements are defined as those supplements that are attached to all positions of a 15 specific title such as school counselors, school psychologists, etc.
Absence Without Pay. An employee who has been absent from work without pay shall cease to earn vacation credits commencing with the first complete pay period of such absence and continuing until the employee returns to work.
Absence Without Pay. Absences for any other reason, subject to supervisor's approval and subject to operational needs, can be approved up to twenty (20) working days.
Absence Without Pay. The present policies applicable to leave of absence without pay will apply. Such time must be recorded as hours worked so that the employee does not accumulate debits for an approved leave of absence.
Absence Without Pay. (a) During any authorized leave of absence without pay benefits may be maintained provided the employee pays to the employer 100% of the premiums required for coverage during the absence without pay. The employee shall either pay the full amount in advance or pay by pre-authorized monthly debit from the employee’s bank account.
(b) The Board shall maintain its contributions towards the Insured Benefits of an employee on sick leave without pay provided:
(i) the employee is not on probation;
(ii) the employee has been on sick leave without pay for not more than six months since the expiration of sick leave credits;
(iii) the employee's share of the premiums is maintained.
Absence Without Pay. Coverage for the Health and Welfare package may be maintained by an employee on unassisted leave, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable Health and Welfare benefit, provided the employee prepays both the eEmployer's and employee's share of the premiums by post-dated cheques or payroll deduction. Any difference between the prepaid amounts and any increase in the premium costs during the leave will be reimbursed by the employee to the University upon termination of the leave.
Absence Without Pay. NOTE: The provisions contained herein are modeled on Alberta residency.
Absence Without Pay. In instances where the work will not be seriously handicapped by the temporary absence of an employee, the Sheriff may authorize a leave without pay not to exceed one (1) year. During such absence, the employee shall not be considered to be on the payroll of the Employer. Such leave will be requested in writing and must establish reasonable justification for approval of the request and will not be approved for an employee who is accepting employment outside the county's service. An employee, who is granted a leave of absence without pay for a period in excess of sixty (60) calendar days, shall first be scheduled for any vacation time that has accrued to his/her credit before he/she is placed on leave without pay.
Absence Without Pay. All leaves of absence without pay shall be subject to the approval of the Executive Director. Such approval shall be based on the merits of the request and the needs of Authority. Employees who are absent from duty on an authorized leave of absence shall not lose any rights accrued at the time the leave is granted. Unless required by law, employees shall not receive compensation during a leave of absence without pay. This includes but is not limited to wages, leave accruals, benefits and pension contributions. Approved leave without pay for purposes other than for prolonged sickness shall commence after the employee has used all accrued vacation and compensatory time. In cases of prolonged illness, approved leave without pay shall commence after the employee has used all accrued sick leave, vacation and compensatory time, except that the employee may retain up to ten (10) day’s accrued vacation time.
Absence Without Pay. Absence without pay will normally not be granted for the first or last week of the contracted year or immediately prior to and following a school holiday.
