Union-Employer Health and Safety Committee. A Health and Safety Committee shall be established which is composed of an equal number of Union and Employer Representatives, but with a minimum of two (2) Union and two (2) Employer members. The Health and Safety Committee shall hold meetings at least once every three (3) months for the purpose of jointly fulfilling its role pursuant to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

The parties can mutually agree to add a seventh representative if deemed advantageous. If a full second shift is put in place, each side will increase their representatives to eight (8). The Health and Safety Committee shall hold meetings as requested by the Union or by the Employer for jointly considering, monitoring, inspecting, investigating and reviewing health and safety conditions and practices, and to improve existing health and safety conditions and practices. Minutes shall be taken of all meetings and copies shall be sent to the Employer and the Union. A Union Health and Safety Representative shall have the right to participate in the monitoring of the work place and to accompany government safety inspectors on inspection tours.

A City’s Health and Safety Committee shall be recognized and composed of an equal number of Union and Employer representatives, including one (1) representative from CUPE Local 1050-01 to attend meetings. The Health and Safety Committee shall hold monthly meetings, or more often if required, for jointly considering, monitoring, inspecting, investigating, reviewing and improving health and safety conditions and practices. Minutes shall be taken of all meetings, and copies shall be sent to the Employer and the Union and posted in all worksites.
