Union Meetings and Conventions. ‌ 19.03.1 Upon written request at least five (5) working days in advance, leave with pay up to a maximum of five (5) working days shall be granted to employees representing the Union at CUPE Conventions or Meetings. Leave with pay up to a maximum of four (4) working days in a twelve-month period shall be granted for attendance at CUPE 1281 Meetings. 19.03.2 Upon written request at least five (5) working days in advance, leave without pay shall be granted to employees chosen to represent the Union at any authorised Labour Convention or educational seminar. Such leave is to be confined to the actual duration of the Convention or educational seminar and the necessary travelling time. Such leave shall not exceed a total of fifteen (15) working days in the bargaining unit. Leave of absence without pay in excess of the fifteen (15) working days noted above may be granted upon written request.

Reasonable agreement for such leave will not be withheld. Time spent travelling to and attending these meetings is considered time work. The parties are amenable to discuss the various organizations covered by this clause, with the join expectation that any leave asked for under this clause will be relevant to the goals of the labour movement. 19.03.3 Upon written request at least three working days in advance, leave with pay shall be granted to employees chosen to represent the Union at any authorized Labour Convention or educational seminar. However, the following provisions shall apply: • If two or more representatives are from one department, their attendance approval is contingent on whether scheduling will allow. • Each designee must give at least two weeks advance written notice to the appropriate supervisor and, in nursing units, prior to the posting of the work schedule. • Time off for this purpose shall be considered as time worked for the purpose of seniority only.

The Employer may approve the use of the agency facilities to hold union meetings.   • Joint Meetings 10.1(a) Should either party desire to discuss with the other any matter affecting generally the relationship of the parties, a meeting of Union and management representatives shall be arranged upon request of either party.
