Use of Sick Leave for Parental Leave. During the parental leave, the faculty member or librarian shall be required to use their accrued sick leave. Any otherwise eligible faculty member or librarian with insufficient accrued sick leave may draw against the Sick Leave Bank. FMLA leave shall run concurrent with such parental leave, and no affected faculty member or librarian may use sick leave or the Sick Leave Bank to extend this leave, unless such an extension is medically indicated. Any faculty member or librarian taking such a leave must join or be a member of the Sick Leave Bank prior to commencing the leave.

Use of Sick Leave for Parental Leave. 34 For purposes of this section, “parental leave” shall be defined as leave for reason of the birth 35 of the unit member’s child, or the placement of a child with the unit member for adoption or 36 xxxxxx care. 38 Unit members shall use current and accumulated sick leave for parental leave for up to 12 39 workweeks. When a unit member with at least one year of District service has exhausted 40 all current and accumulated sick leave and continues to be absent on account of parental 41 leave, he or she shall be entitled to substitute differential pay for the remainder of the 12- 42 week leave. Substitute differential pay for purposes of parental leave means the 43 difference between the unit member’s regular salary and (1) the amount paid to a 44 substitute employed to replace the unit member or (2) if no substitute is employed, the 45 amount that would have been paid to a substitute had one been employed to replace the 46 unit member. Pursuant to this section, the compensation a unit member shall receive shall 47 be no less than 50 percent of his or her regular salary for the remaining portion of the 00- 00 xxxxxxxx period of parental leave.

  • Use of Sick Leave a. An employee, other than a casual employee, with responsibilities in relation to a class of person set out in subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (c) of this sub-clause, who needs the employee’s care and support shall be entitled to use, in accordance with this sub-clause, any current or accrued sick leave entitlements provided for in clause 18 of the award, sick leave, for absences to provide care and support for such persons when they are ill. Such leave may be taken for part of a single day.

  • Abuse of Sick Leave Misuse of leave, violation of orders, directives, or contractual requirements concerning the use of sick leave and other forms of leave used in lieu of sick leave are cause for disciplinary action.

  • Parental Leave of Absence A. A female unit member must use any or all accumulated leave during pre- and post-natal care for that period of time she is temporarily disabled, as determined by the unit member and her physician in accordance with the Family Medical Leave policy.

  • Uses of Sick Leave Sick leave shall be granted to an employee upon approval of the Employer and for the following reasons:

  • Special Leave of Absence Teachers may be granted leaves of absence without pay for one (1) year under the following criteria:

  • Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence 1. Any employee may apply for an unpaid personal leave of absence for good and sufficient reason. Leave pursuant to this provision may be for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months in any fourteen (14) consecutive months. Such leave may be granted at the discretion of the appointing authority and shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees are encouraged to consult with their agency/department Personnel Officer to determine if they are eligible for benefits available under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. All requests for such leave and responses shall be in writing. The application for leave must specifically state the reasons for such application and the length of time requested. After completion of a period of personal leave of absence, the employee shall be entitled to return to the organizational unit, status and position held immediately prior to the beginning of the leave of absence. If the employee's position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority Article of this Agreement.
