VOLUNTARY SICK LEAVE TRANSFER. On a voluntary basis, teachers may contribute a portion of their accumulated sick leave to a teacher who has experienced a personal catastrophic illness or personal injury and has exhausted his/her sick leave accumulation. This benefit is available to teachers of the School District who have exhausted all of their accumulated sick leave and suffer from a personal illness, disability, or hospitalization of a “catastrophic” nature. Catastrophic refers to life-threatening, extraordinary, or chronically debilitating medical conditions and is not intended to include commonplace or ordinary medical conditions. Examples of catastrophic medical conditions include certain cancers and pregnancy/child-birth complications that are hazardous to the life of the mother and/or unborn child. In contrast, the flu, broken leg, and routine pregnancies are not considered catastrophic medical conditions. Generally, catastrophic medical conditions must be considered both long-term in nature and require long-term recuperation periods. A physician’s statement certifying that the medical condition is life-threatening, extraordinary, or chronically debilitating must be submitted with the request. In no event shall more than thirty (30) sick leave days be donated to any one teacher during the course of the recipient teacher’s employment with the District. Teachers who donate sick day(s) understand that these days are lost and cannot be used or recuperated in any way. Any teacher receiving donated days must use the days for the aforementioned purposes; such donated days shall not accumulate in any way.

  • Sick Leave Transfer An employee may transfer their earned sick leave to a spouse, sister, brother, parent, child or any designated person employed by the District under the provisions of. Board Policy 3430.03—Sick Leave (c) (3) (4) and related procedures.

  • Accrued Sick Leave The Board shall provide all employees with a cumulative record 23 of accrued sick leave hours on each pay statement.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Sick Leave Payment Any employee, at his/her option may choose to receive payment for sick leave earned during the year which is unused at the end of the year. Any such payment must be for the total number of unused sick leave hours earned during the year, must be based on the hourly rate of pay of the employee multiplied by 50 percent, and all hours for which payment is received must be deducted from the employee’s accumulated leave balance. Sick leave used during a current year will be charged against the most recently earned sick leave. Hourly rate of pay is the hourly rate at the end of the contract year.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use Family Sick Leave for the illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who requires the care and assistance of the employee. Up to eighty (80) hours per calendar year of the employee’s accumulated unused sick leave may be used for this purpose.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Deductions from Sick Leave A deduction shall be made from accumulated sick leave of all normal working days (exclusive of holidays) absent for sick leave.

  • Sick Leave Payoff Employee with accrued, unused sick leave may, at the time of separation, select one of the following options for reimbursement:

  • Payment for Unused Sick Leave a. An employee with less than ten (10) years of continuous University service, as defined herein, who separates from the University shall not be paid for any unused sick leave. For employees appointed on or before 1/7/03 University service includes continuous employment by the University or the State of Florida.

  • Sick Leave Sharing The program permits employees to donate sick leave to a fellow employee who is suffering from or has a relative or household member suffering from an extraordinary or severe illness, injury, impairment, or physical, or mental condition which has caused or is likely to cause the employee to take leave without pay or to terminate employment Definition of Terms used in this program:
