Wireless Connectivity. Audiologists and Hearing Aid Dispensers (sometimes called Hearing Instrument Specialists) are licensed to fit and sell hearing aids in New Mexico. Both are trained in testing hearing and in fitting and adjusting today’s hearing aids. Audiologists have a master’s or doctoral degree in audiology and are also trained to interpret test results from a medical perspective and to use additional testing to determine the need for medical treatment. Dispensers are trained to recognize problems that require referral to either a medical doctor or an audiologist but they are fully qualified to fit and adjust your hearing aids. You may also ask your primary care provider or people you know who have had experience buying hearing aids for their recommendations. THE HEARING EVALUATION There are two technologies that will allow your hearing aids to connect wirelessly to sound from electronic sources such as an MP3 player, computer, cellular phone etc.: Telecoils, also known as a T-Coil or a telephone switch, are small copper coils available inside most hearing aids and all cochlear implant processors. They receive sound transmitted wirelessly by a hearing loop, neck loop, ear hook or telephone ear piece. By simply touching a button on the hearing aid they will connect to the assistive listening system (ALS) in an assembly area that features a hearing loop. For other types of ALS they wotk with a borrowed receiver and a neckloop. Using what’s called a neckloop they work anyplace you can connect a headset. Bluetooth® is a wireless technology offered with many hearing aids that can connect them directly to a variety of electronic sound sources but only one user to one sound source. It will not serve multiple users who wish to connect to a public address or assistive listening system. The Bluetooth feature in some hearing aids will connect directly to the source while with others a separate device may be needed for Bluetooth connectivity, usually at additional cost. A screening or hearing exam -Hearing screenings are quick pass/fail tests to find out if you need a full hearing evaluation. Hearing exams (assessments) determine the degree of hearing loss, the type of hearing loss, and the configuration of hearing loss and are conducted in a soundproof booth and must be conducted prior to your being fitted with hearing aids. A hearing exam will include testing your comprehension of spoken words. Your audiogram - The audiogram is a graph that displays the results of the hearing exa...

Wireless Connectivity. Utilizing Wi-Fi 802.11n at 5GHz, rugged industrial rated access points, and a robust line of Wi-Fi and Cellular radio products, Gatekeeper Systems provides wireless solutions for mobile environments. Gatekeeper DVR’s come ready to support WIFI or Cellular connectivity. WIFI connectivity consists of adding a specifically designed mobile WIFI radio to each bus. The bus yards would require WIFI access points to access the local network. While Wi-Fi connectivity is limited to the bus yard, if the primary goal is to track a bus using its GPS coordinates and look in at live video when the bus is on route, Cellular is the preferred data transmission method. G4 Connect Gatekeeper Systems has a proprietary software Application on the Google Play Store called G4Connect. This custom software allows the user to connect to Gatekeeper Systems range of Hybrid DVRs using either a G4Connect Wi-Fi dongle or directly when accessing wirelessly enable DVRs. With G4 Connect you can: • Playback previously recorded video; • Allows for easy configuration of the DVR; • Export video for viewing later; even on a different system. G4 Connect consists of a small USB dongle and an application that runs on an Android tablet. A G4 Connect dongle plugs into the USB port on the front of the DVR. The dongle produces a local WIFI connection to an Android tablet. Administrators, service personnel and installers can now access the DVR’s configuration menus quickly and efficiently. G4 Enterprise Software for Wireless and Cellular Solutions When paired with the wireless capabilities in Gatekeeper’s latest hybrid DVRs, G4Enterprise software provides the functionality to communicate to the DVR’s wirelessly and provides feature to allow for the storage of video. The software can run in a VM environment. End user functionality (GUI) is provided through the G4ViewerPlus software. Users can access any “online” vehicle and directly view recorded video from any camera channel. With the date and time search, video users are able to search by recent week, recent days, user defined and all video. This allows users to quickly find, save and share the video files of critical incidents as they happen. This empowers users with the information they need to make swift decisions based on clear evidence. The GEO Fence search allows a user to specify an area on a map specifically for a period of time and date. The system will return a list of vehicles that were in that area based on their GPS information (Which can ...
Wireless Connectivity. The wireless offering in our libraries is a free service offered on a best endeavours basis. Library staff can provide a basic level of assistance to customers using their own IT equipment via the wireless service but they are not trained IT support staff and sometimes problems arise with connectivity that cannot be resolved by Libraries staff. Furthermore, the Libraries service cannot guarantee that every IT device with all varieties of software will operate via the wireless provision, given the many and varied IT products in the marketplace. Access to the wireless network is not operating system or browser dependent and has been proven to work with several different types of product including Apple products. The Libraries service will make very effort to assist users but it is the users responsibility to make any changes on their own systems to make them compatible. Occasionally, there will be occurrences where the combination of hardware and software that users provide will not be able to be configured to connect to the Libraries network.
