Personal Necessity definition

Personal Necessity shall be strictly limited to its common and ordinary meaning; that is, circumstances which are truly unavoidable, beyond the control of the unit member and in the nature of compulsion. Leaves for personal convenience, civic, or non-emergency reasons, or circumstances created by the choice of the unit member do not constitute personal necessity leave.
Personal Necessity is defined as matters that are of compelling personal importance and the scheduling of which is beyond the control of the Unit Member. Other cases of personal necessity shall include religious observances and funeral attendance.
Personal Necessity. (other than “no tell” days) means any crucial personal business for which the certificated employee’s presence could not be avoided or delayed to a non-work time. Personal Necessity Leave may not be used for recreational activities or for seeking or engaging in other paid or unpaid employment. If the employee violates these contract provisions, the Personal Necessity Day(s) will be changed to an unpaid leave of absence and the employee’s salary will be reduced accordingly.

Examples of Personal Necessity in a sentence

  • Employees who request Family and Medical Leave will be required to substitute or use all earned vacation before commencing unpaid leave for birth, placement of child for adoption or xxxxxx care or care of family member, except that employees who request leave to care for a family member with a serious health condition may use all available Personal Necessity Leave prior to using earned vacation.

  • Additional days, if needed, may be deducted from Personal Necessity Leave.

  • The leave shall be without pay, unless the Faculty Member elects either (1) to use Personal Necessity Leave, as provided in Article 11, Section 8, or (2) to arrange for performance of the assigned duties by another Faculty Member, subject to the approval of the Xxxx of the Division as set forth in Section 11 of Article 11.


More Definitions of Personal Necessity

Personal Necessity means any business, endeavor, or activity which cannot be conducted before or after the teaching day without causing undue inconvenience to the faculty member. Faculty members shall handle such leave in a responsible manner.
Personal Necessity means any personal matter requiring the employee's attention which cannot be attended to during a non-work time.
Personal Necessity as used in this section, means any situation which is serious in nature and involves circumstances the employee cannot reasonably be expected to disregard, and requires the attention of the employee during the assigned hours of work, subject to the following conditions:  Any days used, as personal necessity leave shall be deducted from the employee’s sick leave balance (except the personal necessity free day).  The total number of days allowed in any fiscal year shall not exceed seven (7) regular workdays. Personal necessity leave is not cumulative from year to year.  The employee shall use only the amount of time necessary to alleviate the emergency.
Personal Necessity means any business activity, which cannot be conducted before or after the employee's assigned working hours. An employee shall notify the immediate supervisor or administrator at least five (5) working days in advance of taking such leave unless an emergency makes such notice impossible.
Personal Necessity is defined as paid leave for personal business and emergencies. It is deducted from accumulated sick leave.
Personal Necessity means situations dealing with business or personal emergencies that cannot be dealt with before or after the school day. An employee may use up to seven (7) days of earned sick leave in case of personal necessity on the following basis:
Personal Necessity leave may be allowed for other reasons at the discretion of the Superintendent or designee. Leave for personal convenience, civic or non- emergency reasons or circumstances created by the choice of the unit member does not constitute personal necessity leave.
