Apprenticeship or Traineeship. The University may offer Fixed-term Employment to an apprentice or trainee employed under an apprenticeship or traineeship approved by a training authority, or a person employed under a special Commonwealth or State Government employment or training scheme. Specific conditions for apprentices and trainees are covered in Schedule 6 and Schedule 7 of this Agreement.

Notice of Cessation or Re-offer of Fixed Term Employment A fixed term Staff Member may be offered a further contract of employment. Unless such an offer is made and accepted, or the Staff Member’s employment is terminated earlier in accordance with sub clause 3.7.11 the Staff Member’s employment will end on the specified end date or occurrence of the contingency specified in the contract of employment. Where the University makes a determination to continue a position with the same or substantially similar duties, or where there have only been inconsequential changes to the position, the Staff Member will be offered further employment in the position provided that: he/she was initially appointed through an externally advertised competitive selection process; and he/she is demonstrating satisfactory performance in all aspects of the position; and in the case of substantially similar duties, the University is satisfied that he/she has the capacity to meet any new duties or competencies that may be required.
Apprenticeship or Traineeship which is a work activity where a Staff Member is under a formal government-sponsored or approved traineeship or apprenticeship. Such a Staff Member is to be engaged for a period not exceeding the period of the apprenticeship or the traineeship.

Apprenticeship or Traineeship. The University may, at its discretion, provide opportunity for individuals completing a recognised and approved apprenticeship or traineeship to be engaged by the University through fixed-term employment with the University. Apprentices and trainees employed by the University are paid in accordance with Schedule 5 – Apprentices and Trainees.

It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure compliance with this Article and with Labor Code Section 1777.5 for all apprenticeable occupations.
