Benefits While on Sick Leave. (a) A member who has exhausted sick leave credits and has not been approved for long-term disability (LTD) is entitled to the following benefits for a period of one year from the date of exhaustion of sick leave credits: (1) extended health care; (2) dental care; and (3) group life insurance. (b) A member who is off work due to illness and has not exhausted sick leave credits after a three-month period may waive the right to continue on sick leave and commence benefits under the Association’s LTD plan, provided that the member provides proof to the Chief of Police or Chief’s designate that LTD benefits have been approved and the Association makes all reasonable efforts to provide, upon request, proof on a semi-annual basis of continued LTD benefit payments. While on LTD, but not including any period for which a member has been awarded LTD retroactively, the member shall continue to be eligible for the following benefits: (1) extended health care; (2) dental care; and (3) group life insurance. (a) (i) A member who has exhausted sick leave credits and has not been approved for long-term disability (LTD) shall be allowed to receive sick leave credit from another member of the same classification or higher at the same rate, if a member of a lower classification wishes to donate time it shall be prorated at it’s [sic] value. Members from both Uniform and Civilian collective agreements can donate time to one another under these circumstances.
Benefits While on Sick Leave. The Hospital will pay the employer portion of the insured benefit premiums for the Health and Welfare Benefits provided in accordance with Article 39.01 while an employee is on sick leave in accordance with Article 30 and LTIP, to a maximum of thirty (30) months from the date the absence began. After thirty (30) months, an employee may elect, in writing to the Hospital, to have insured benefits continue by paying both the employee and employer portion of the insured benefit premium for the Health and Welfare Benefits in accordance with Article 39.01 for the period of time the employee remains on approved sick leave and is employed by the Hospital and provided such extension of coverage is permitted under the applicable insurance plan in place at the time.

  • Benefits While on Leave An employee will continue to receive her/his salary and benefits while on paid leave under this Article. An employee on unpaid leave may arrange to pay the costs required to maintain benefit coverage in accordance with the local provisions of the collective agreement.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.

  • Sick Leave Policy It is the policy of the State of Ohio to not unreasonably deny sick leave to employees when requested. It is also the policy of the State to take corrective action for unauthorized use of sick leave and/or abuse of sick leave. It is further the policy of the State that when corrective and/or disciplinary action is taken, it will be applied progressively and consistently. It is the desire of the State of Ohio that when discipline is applied it will serve the purpose of correcting the performance of the employee.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.
