Bereavement Leave and Compassionate Leave. 9.5.1 In the case of death in the immediate family, the Employee shall be entitled to leave with pay for five (5) working days provided the Employee has notified the Manager. Immediate family shall mean husband, wife, child, brother, sister, parent, parent-in-law, a common-law spouse or child living in the same household, any other relative living in the same household, or any other person with the written approval of the Manager.

Bereavement Leave and Compassionate Leave. (A) When there is a death of a family member of an Employee or his/her spouse, the Employee concerned shall be entitled to up to five (5) days of Bereavement Leave with full salary and benefits. The Employee shall notify his/her Immediate Supervisor that such leave is required. The term "family member" means children, parents, siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren.

  • Compassionate Leave (a) An employee is entitled to 2 days of compassionate leave for each occasion when a member of the employee's immediate family, or a member of the employee's household:

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.
