Black Seal License. Custodial employees who do not hold a Black Seal license shall be classified as Custodians and shall be compensated according to the guide for Custodian on Schedule A, Category 1. a. Any custodian who earns a Black Seal license shall not be automatically reassigned to the Boilerman range unless they are performing such duties on a regular, not sporadic, basis. If the custodian uses his/her boilerman license to perform overtime, said overtime shall be paid at the Custodian/Boilerman range. b. The Board shall reimburse the custodians for costs incurred in obtaining this license to a maximum of $200. c. Employees holding a Black Seal License to fill other job categories in maintenance and facilities shall receive an additional $300 per contract year.
Black Seal License. 1. The Board may, at its discretion, require a custodial or maintenance employee to obtain and maintain a Black Seal License. In such cases, the Board shall bear the expense thereof. The Board shall also provide sufficient time off from work to enable the employee to attend classes necessary to obtain said license. 2. The Board shall pay for the Black Seal License fee, whether it be an initial fee or a renewal.
Black Seal License. Custodial employees are required to hold a Black Seal License. If the license is not held at the time of hire, the custodian will be provided with up to12 months from the initial date of hire to obtain same. Failure to have obtained such license within the specified time period cannot be contested as grounds for termination of employment. Those who were hired prior to 1/1/2021 and grandfathered will continue to receive the stipend for the license. Exceptions may be made to this requirement by the Superintendent or his/her designee for good and sufficient reasons as determined at the sole discretion of the Board.
Black Seal License. Any custodian in possession of a valid Black Seal License shall receive an annual $350.00 stipend at the end of each year covered by this contract.
Black Seal License. All Custodians must possess a Black Seal License. Upon ratification of the Agreement all custodians must take the first available test for a Black Seal License. If a custodial employee does not pass the test, he/she must take the next available test. If the custodial employee fails two (2) tests, that employee shall be terminated. The termination is not subject to the grievance procedure. Any custodian who has a Black Seal License shall receive a yearly stipend of $400 for the duration of the Agreement.
Black Seal License. All custodians must possess a Black Seal License. Any training required to obtain the license shall be done on the employee’s own time and not during the workday. However, employees who work during the evening shall be provided release time provided they make up the time in the same week. The Board shall pay for the training. If an employee fails the Black Seal License examination, the Board will provide tutoring to the employee to assist with the second examination. Once the employee passes the examination the Board shall pay for the license. Any custodial employee who fails the Black Seal License examination on two attempts, or whose Black Seal License is forfeited or revoked may be terminated with just cause.
Black Seal License. The Board shall pay for the required courses and test in order to acquire a Black Seal License. If the employee leaves the district within the year after obtaining license, then employee must reimburse the costs of course and license to the district.

After two failed opportunities to pass the examination pursuant to a Board-established time table, the employee shall bear the cost of obtaining the Black Seal License. The Superintendent at his or her sole discretion shall have the right to approve payment for additional coursework after the two examinations. If such course work occurs outside of an employee’s regular work hours, such employee shall be paid their regular rate of pay for all time spent in the classroom. Beginning in July of 2008-2011 the present custodial salary schedule will be separated into two salary schedules; Black Seal Certificated and Non-Black Seal Certificated. The salary schedule will reflect compensation for Black Seal Certified Staff at $2,000 additional per step. The Board additionally agrees to fund the agreed upon increment with an additional $3,000 to be distributed as agreed upon between the BEA and “Board.” The Board has created two salary schedules for full-time custodial staff; Black Seal Certified and Non- Certified Employees.
Black Seal License. All full time custodians must complete requirements and obtain a Black Seal License within 12 months of employment date. A one time fee of $100.00 will be paid to each person upon receiving a Black Seal License. This will also be given to those who have received the Black Seal prior to this agreement.
