Summer Work a. This section shall apply only to those employees hired to fill temporary summer positions.
b. The District will provide the Association with a list of expected summer work job openings prior to the last day of school. Summer positions shall be included on the District’s website.
c. The District shall not fill summer positions with outside employees until bargaining unit members have had at least three (3) working days to submit applications.
Summer Work. During the summer, the normal workweek will be a minimum of twenty (20) hours, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the scheduled summer school session or the non-public school schedule. It will be comprised of one of the workday configurations below, plus stand-by duty assignments including but not limited to the following examples: Field trips, maintenance runs, in-service activities, drug testing, committee assignments, stand-by, retraining, fueling, pre/post trip inspections. Field trip and stand-by assignments will be made at least five (5) workdays in advance. Evening assignments will be made at least ten (10) workdays in advance. Drivers and attendants given evening assignments will not be given additional field trip or standby duty assignments between their a.m./p.m. assignment on the day of that evening assignment. Evening assignments are defined as work that occurs after the scheduled p.m. route. The normal workday will fall under one of the following configurations: • An a.m., p.m. route • An a.m., noon, p.m. route • An a.m., p.m., evening route Each driver and attendant will be paid their regular rate of pay, 15 minutes each day for pre-/post- trip inspections. Extra duty assignments beyond the minimum twenty (20) hours summer work week will be based upon seniority.
Summer Work. A. Employees desiring summer work shall file their phone numbers and addresses in writing with the District personnel office and thereafter shall promptly advise the District in writing of any change in phone number, address, or hiring status. Only employees who have complied with the above filing procedure shall be notified of openings.
B. The District shall maintain a list of current employees desiring summer work and shall publicize for a minimum of five (5) working days the availability of new or open positions. The District shall first consider current employees before considering outside applicants. A copy of job postings shall be forwarded to the president of the Association. Current employees shall have preferential rights to summer positions in their general job classification for which they are determined by the District to be qualified.
Summer Work. 1. Summer work includes field trips and extra assignments beginning with the first day and ending with the last day of summer vacation.
2. Only regular daily Bus Drivers who sign up for summer work will be called.
3. Bus Drivers who want to be summer Bus Drivers will be placed on a list in order of classification seniority. This list will rotate continuously, but begins at the top every summer.
Summer Work. In the event that summer work within the bargaining unit is available, such work will be awarded to the person who regularly performs those duties. If the employee declines the work or if the work is not associated with an existing position such work will be posted for bidding by employee applicants. The position will be awarded to the most qualified applicant as determined by the Employer and in the event the qualifications are equal the most senior qualified applicant will be selected. If there are no qualified applicants, the Employer may hire from other sources.
Summer Work. Summer Work is defined in Article 1., Section 3. All summer work will be assigned by rotation as referenced in Article 13, Section 5.
Summer Work. Summer work will be delegated according to seniority if documented ability and qualifications are equal to a less senior employee.
Summer Work. If the Employer opts to offer a summer school program, the following provisions shall apply except in instances when elementary programs are offered at separate sites. In such instances staff selection may be made from current building staff prior to using the process outlined below.
A. Summer school work will be considered supplemental employment and determined on a year-to- year basis.
B. Wages only will be earned for summer school work and will be paid based on the previous year’s schedule. No other provisions shall apply nor benefits accrue for summer school work.
C. Teacher Assistants shall be given preference for summer school work from a pool of applicants. The pool from which teacher assistants shall be selected shall be composed of the most senior applicants who are qualified for the various positions, and shall not be larger than two times the number of expected positions.
D. Individuals who are not normally members of the bargaining unit will not become members if summer school work is their only employment within the bargaining unit.
E. Volunteers may continue to be used for summer school work.
F. Prior to hiring for community education and recreation elementary summer camps, employees shall be notified of expected vacancies. Child care workers who apply for director, assistant director, supervisor, or counselor positions will be interviewed and given first consideration before any outside applicants are hired.
G. For all summer school positions the opportunity for job sharing among applicants may exist with approval by the building administrator.
Summer Work. Summer work related to the transportation of District students beyond the regular school year calendar will be posted and bid upon by the bargaining unit on a seniority basis and according to mutually discussed procedures. The District and Union will also discuss the method by which the employees will be notified of such procedures. (Such procedures will be discussed by a joint committee and be ready for display and implementation on a date agreed by the committee.)
Summer Work. The following guidelines shall be followed in assigning summer work:
A. Assignment of Cooks
1. The Board shall first offer summer work to those employees who performed the summer work in the previous summer.
2. In the event one or all of the above mentioned employees refuse the assignment of summer work, the work shall be offered to the remaining bargaining unit cooks beginning with the most senior cook.
3. The Board may assign the work to a non-bargaining unit employee provided the summer work has first been offered to all cooks.
B. Assignment of Educational Aides
1. Summer work shall be offered first to the educational aides who typically performs the work (i.e. works with the student requiring summer work). If she/he declines the work, it shall be offered to the other educational aides beginning with the most senior educational aide.
2. The Board may assign the work to a non-bargaining unit employee provided the summer work has first been offered to all educational aides.
