Canine. One hour of each work day for Canine handlers will be used for care and training of their assigned canine. Canine handlers shall receive one hour of overtime compensation (i.e., one hour at time and one-half their regular rate of pay) on each of their regular days off, to compensate for the weekly off-duty care and maintenance of the animals in their custody.
Canine. The parties recognize that canine officers are required as part of their jobs to perform certain home dog-care duties. In order to compensate canine officers for such home dog-care work, the City shall release each canine officer from their regular duties with pay one hour per duty day worked. In addition, canine officers shall receive forty-five (45) minutes of compensatory time off for each furlough day on which the officer boards his/her assigned police dog at home. In lieu of receiving compensatory time off on their furlough days, officers shall have the option of kenneling the dog. Animals will continue to be kenneled at the Canine Center while their handlers are on vacation or absent from work more than four (4) consecutive days.
Canine. “Dogs” – Students are responsible for any illegal materials or banned substance found in their vehicle while on school property.
Canine. Sergeants working as a canine officer shall be compensated with one-half (½) hour off their normal shift for maintenance of the dog. On days off, the Sergeant will receive one-half (½) hour pay per day at the time and one-half (1 ½) rate of pay.
Canine. The City shall pay the cost of feeding, grooming and veterinarian services necessary for the care of the canine. The City agrees to pay the cost of kenneling the canine while the handler is on vacation or otherwise unable to attend to the canine’s needs. The City agrees to compensate the canine handler with one-half hour of pay at the regular rate each day of the week for providing care for the canine while off duty. The City agrees to provide the canine handler priority over others seeking private ownership of the canine upon its retirement from police service.
Canine. Maximum 2 dogs per handler. Minimum 7 years (in case dogs have medical issues or are injured and need to be replaced) in those cases a handler may get a third dog if it is within 7 years.
Canine. (K-9) Care. The K-9 handler shall receive two hours overtime per workweek to compensate for the K-9 care. K-9 care includes feeding, grooming, kennel cleaning, and otherwise caring for the assigned canine. For care hours that are beyond the two hours, the handler will follow departmental procedures for working overtime.
Canine. The Department does not currently have a canine officer. If the County establishes a canine officer during the term of this agreement, the parties will negotiate over any mandatory subjects of bargaining consistent with ORS 243.698.
