Casual Relief Staff. A casual relief staff employee shall be defined as one who is employed on an as needed basis to meet short- term or emergency staffing needs of Hoshizaki House, this includes: vacation requests, statutory holidays, sick time, or any other approved time off. All casual relief staff must provide availability for a minimum of two (2) shifts per month. All new casual relief employees shall be on probation for a period of five hundred (500) hours. A separate seniority list will be kept for casual relief staff based on hours worked from the last date of hire.

Casual Relief Staff. Casual relief staff shall receive vacation pay of four per cent (4%) of annual gross earnings in July of each year. Casual relief staff who have been employed for five (5) years or more shall receive vacation pay of six per cent (6%) of the annual gross earnings in June and December of each year. “Gross earnings” shall be determined in accordance with the Employment Standards Act.
Casual Relief Staff. (a) Further to Clause 4 Workloads in this Schedule, due to the impact that leave has on workload and service delivery, every attempt shall be made to replace periods of absence due to Sick Leave and Emergency Services Leave and, where appropriate, periods of absence relating to Professional Development. Such relief will be provided during absences where a MCHN is required to act as a supervisor of other MCH nurses.
Casual Relief Staff. Where possible relieving staff will be appointed to cover 100% of all periods of leave.
