Classified Staff. Support staff advance on the salary schedules for step increases on July 1 each year.
Classified Staff. With prior approval by the Superintendent, school support Employees will be reimbursed fifty percent (50%) of all costs for tuition, fees, and books against the actual costs of courses that is related to their current position or will help to qualify the Employee for a different position in the bargaining unit.
Classified Staff. 1. The Employer shall provide through the New York State Retirement System the New York State Improved Career Retirement Plan 75 (i), for Tier I and Tier II employees only. Tier Ill members are defined as those who joined the Retirement System on or after July 1, 1976 but before September 1, 1983. Tier IV members are defined as those who joined the Retirement System on or after September 1, 1983.
2. The Employer shall provide through the New York State Employees Retirement System the "Sick Leave Rider" permitting retirement service credit for up to 165 days of unused sick leave, except as modified by statute.
3. The Employer shall provide through the New York State Employees Retirement System the improved "Death Benefit Rider" 60 (b), which guarantees $20,000, except as modified by statute, for an employee who dies after 90 days of service, for Tier I employees only. Tier II, Ill, and IV death benefits are subject to Employees Retirement System.
Classified Staff. The probationary period for classified staff shall be 90 workdays from the employee’s initial start date.
Classified Staff. If a classified staff member is required to substitute he/she will be paid the higher of the substitute rate or his/her regular rate.
Classified Staff. A classified staff promotion is defined as a change from a lower paying job to a higher paying job. For purposes of this section, total annual salary shall be used to determine whether a change is from a lower paying job to a higher paying job. All classified staff are eligible to apply for promotions by making written application pursuant to the directions of the job posting. Both current classified staff and outside applicants are eligible for consideration. Current classified staff who apply shall be guaranteed an interview. If the qualifications of two (2) or more current classified staff applicants are equal, length of service within the District shall be the determining factor. The final decision shall be within the sole discretion of the Board/Administration.
Classified Staff. 14.2.1 The BOE and administration may reduce the number of positions in a job classification. The method of reduction in forces shall be consistent with ORC 3319.172. Within a classification, a MOC with limited contracts shall be released before one with a continuing contract. The BOE may determine to retain a less senior classified member holding either a limited or continuing contract if it can demonstrate the difference in individual qualifications of the staff members involved will have a significant impact on the services to the district.
14.2.2 Laid off employees shall be recalled by seniority to the classification, assuming the employee remains qualified and able to perform the duties of the position. Specifically, the most senior laid off employee shall be the first to be recalled.
14.2.3 If qualified and able to perform the duties of the position, an employee may opt to accept a position within the same classification at less hours and/or pay.
14.2.4 Upon recall, an employee shall be given notice at his/her last known address by U.S. Mail and email, if available. It shall be the employee’s responsibility to keep the Board advised of his/her address and e-mail address. The employee shall be given seven (7) calendar days to accept such an offer and shall be granted a minimum of fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of receipt of the recall notice to report to work.
14.2.5 An employee’s recall rights expire upon any of the following occurrences: (1) retirement under any Ohio State Retirement System, (2) resignation, (3) refusal of a comparable position offered to the individual more than once or (4) the applicable recall period (one year for limited contract; two years for continuing contract) has expired.
Classified Staff. The right of assignment, reassignment, and transfer shall remain that of the Board and/or Superintendent. Written notice of a reassignment or involuntary transfer shall be given the employee. Opportunity shall be given for the staff member to discuss the proposed transfer or reassignment with the Superintendent.
