Dispensing of Medicine. Every reasonable effort shall be used to have trained bargaining unit members dispense medication to students. The Board shall defend, indemnify and hold harmless each bargaining unit member in any claim, demand or cause of action brought against the bargaining unit member complying with a Board and/or administrative directive to dispense medicine to students.
Dispensing of Medicine. Registered Nurses dispensing medication and/or employees performing medical procedures in accordance with Board Policy will be held harmless from liability.

An employee who voluntarily accepts and assume the duties of dispensing medication and providing first aid to pupils in school buildings for the school year; and who has received the proper certified training provided by the Employer, upon completion of one quarter, that clerical employee shall be entitled to receive a quarterly incentive in the amount of $150.00
Dispensing of Medicine. Student medication shall be administered by the School Nurse, or by a designated administrator when the School Nurse is not available. The administration of medication to students during regular school hours and during school-related activities is discouraged unless absolutely necessary for the critical health and well being of the student. This Section shall not prohibit any school employee from providing emergency assistance to students.
Dispensing of Medicine. Employees shall not be required to administer medication to pupils. Pupils shall be referred to proper, designated administrative or nursing personnel for this function.

Employees, other than medical personnel, shall not be required to administer medication to pupils; draw blood; check lung capacity; administer tube-feeding, catheterization, or attend to students with catheters; or perform other medical procedures. This shall not prohibit employees from providing emergency assistance to students.

Duly authorized representatives shall be permitted to transact official Association business on school property, provided, however, such representatives shall not interfere with employee job performance in any way.

Employees shall be authorized to dispense identified oral medication in accordance with the written procedures while accompanying students on school activities away from the school site. The medication to be dispensed during the time the student is away from the school site shall be given to the authorized employee, clearly labeled with the student name, time to be dispensed and proper dosage. Pursuant to RCW 28A.210.270, if the District (and authorized employee) substantially complies with the written orders for medication, it is immune from any civil liability as a result of administration of the medication. Employees who are required to dispense oral medications will be trained annually in such procedures by a qualified professional.
Dispensing of Medicine. No employee shall be required to dispense or administer medication unless qualified and legally authorized to do so.
Dispensing of Medicine. If the dispensing of medication or any action that can be considered a long term medical procedure is to be performed by a bargaining unit employee, that employee has the right to refuse, if the employee is uncomfortable or untrained. The refusal shall be in writing.
